Sounds GREAT! But this is the single version, does this mean there's going to be bonus tracks on the albums? (at least, I don't have this one yet - the one on the Man Machine is much slower and the one on The Mix is completely different)

Oh wait, it's an edit from the The Mix version. nevermind. Great remaster, though. Yay!

From the MOJO interview, when asked about the first 3 albums not being part of The Catalogue:
"They are coming. We are working on them with more drawings, more paintings, more photographs. We are working on the old tapes, they are very dusty".

The one change that I know of is 'House Phone' is added to the Techno Pop tracklisting.

holy shit the 1973 single version of "Kometenmelodie" is absolutely gorgeous. I guess I need to get into early Kraftwerk? Or is this single atypical?

The Man Machine: The Story of KraftwerkSaturday (2010-01-16), 22:00 on BBC Radio 2
Jarvis Cocker presents the story of a group of musicians who've influenced artists and movements as diverse as David Bowie, Coldplay, hip hop and the New Romantics.
The programme features a rare interview with Kraftwerk founding member and the only remaining original, Ralph Hutter. It also examines the part played in the "Krautrock" movement by other German electronic music exponents of the 70s, such as Neu! and Tangerine Dream.

Blimey, since Florian left, Ralf's been all "Hello Everybody!"
― Mark G, Thursday, 14 January 2010 12:50 (fourteen years ago) link
I don't like it when people bang on about such-and-such a band's "influence" as though that's the main reason we should celebrate them. IMHO the reason we should celebrate a band like Kraftwerk is because of the records they made, without the historical context.
Plus, I hope they don't let Hütter see the two mistakes they made in his name. Plus, Jarvis Cocker ffs.

Having loved their stuff from Autobahn onwards, I did go about checking out their first three albums at one point. However, aside from 'Ruckzuck' (the first track on Kraftwerk 1), not much else of it warranted a second listen for me. However, it's all worth listening to at least one just to hear the roots.

KRAFTWERK. 3-D VIDEO-INSTALLATION
15. Oktober - 13. November 2011, Di - So 10 - 22 Uhr
12.10., 20 Uhr (ausverkauft)13.10., 20 Uhr (ausverkauft)13.10., 24 Uhr (ausverkauft)

In the last four decades, the electric power plant pioneers have written music history and successes celebrated worldwide. Since its beginnings in the early 70's power plant was connected with the developments of modern technology. The tones have become possible by the digital age, given not only the lack of sound to date. Power plant are also pioneers and founding fathers of very different styles of music like hip-hop, electro, house, techno and synth pop. Since her concert performance at the 2005 Venice Biennale, also perceives the world of contemporary art multi-media performances of the work force as a unique form of artistic performance. In the Kunstbau Lenbachhaus is now programmed for the first time the power plant of image and sound world experience as immersive work of art outside the concert hall. In a specially developed for the 3D structure of art multichannel video installation of the more unique and powerful position of power within the history of the visual and performing arts will be taken into account.
The exhibition is an accompanying publication will appear in the structure of art in the Schirmer / Mosel: Power Plant 3-D. With 3-D glasses
Prior to the exhibition will find the following concerts of power plant instead of in the Old Congress Hall in Munich:

My wife and I are MOMA members - I've emailed the museum to find out if there'll be tickets held for members. Really want to go to at least one night of this. Wonder which night will be the least attended? I'm betting either The Mix or Tour de France, but honestly, The Mix night is the one I'd most like to attend. I loved that CD when it came out.

change your flight dates or hate yourself for the rest of your life
I'm a fan of some of the 90's 'Mix' versions of CW tracks, the 1998 digital version of 'Numbers' is exactly how a new Kraftwerk record should have sounded at that time. Not all of the updates worked, but I enjoyed the way they were reinterpreting the catalog. For the 2004 tour they seemed to regress some of the arrangements to be more faithful to the original versions. It'll be interesting to see how they handle it now that they're doing entire albums.
Might just have to make some of these, but I'm going to miss the first two nights which are the ones I want to see most. Unless word leaks that the 'additional composition' for the first night is a 30 minute long version of 'Elektrisches Roulette' in which case all bets are off
