I find myself to often have to double check the lyrics to "Too Far Gone" by Adonis; doubting that he does say "Yall start jackin' off in there"
Or is he actually saying something different? Assumedly he is talking about dancing, not masturbating, but hey, you never know.

I always thought in Punks in the Beerlight (Silver Jews), that Dave Berman sang "Punks in the Beerlight--Toulouse-Lautrec!".
And then I found out, yeah, he does.

Hendrix did in fact say 'Kiss this Guy' in live performances and meant for it to be androgynous on the album. Is that common knowledge? Still interesting.

Irreplaceable... I thought "to the left" didn't make any sense, why is his stuff in a box to the left? Then I thought "aha!", she's saying "to the lift" and she wants him to get his stuff out of her flat, down in the elevator and out of her life. Then I found out I was right the first time. Still makes no sense though.

still makes more sense than Beyonce calling an elevator a "lift," wtf

I always thought I heard Queen's "One Vision" wrong where at the end he says "Gimme gimme gimme fried chicken" was looking to see what it really was the other day, sure enough, I was right...

the Robitussin references in the Moby Grape song refer to its use as a recreational drug when large amounts are ingested, nowadays known as "robo-tripping". I've long wondered whether the Grape were getting high on the dextromethorphan- or codeine-laced version of Robitussin; the latter was much more readily available in 1967 than it is now, with many states now requiring a prescription for it. Outside the US, codeine cough syrups or pain relievers are still usually available without an rx.

The Move did a cover version, but they disbelieved the lyrics they heard, so they substituted "Your old bustle" instead.

"Robitussin" possibly chosen over "Romilar" because it sang better

Syd Barrett's "It Is Obvious" has the line "Your stars, my stars, simple cock bars". Syd, man, I know you were insane, but what?

I always thought it was cot bars... but, as you say, it's Syd after all

I put on Culture Club's 'That's the Way (I'm Only Trying to Help You)' and I cracked up when my gf made a face and said 'clowns caress you?!'. I insisted that no no, he said clouds! Come on. Clowns? As if. But then I looked it up and...hmm. Huh. Hmm. Well.
