― LITERALLY FLATTEN HER WITH THE POWER OF YOUR MARRIAGE (HI DERE), Monday, 26 April 2010 17:29 (fourteen years ago) link
Listening to it again in hi quality and I'm still frustrated at how great the sample is and how it gets ruined by unnecessary echo on the vocals and the lazy production. Her voice sounds way better when it's slightly behind the sound, not in front of it all. Song sounds killer until she torches it down with the vocals... oh well, we'll always have ghostrider...

I don't mind this song, but I hope it isn't representative of what LP3 has in store generally. She seems too good and too canny to drop some kind of disappointing album on us in 2010.

A STORY TO BE TOLD through word-of-mouse IF UR BORD spead newszak #miap4k
re: that tracklisting, I can totally see her sampling Tequila by Terrorvision and turning it into some sort of uberhip dancefloor filling 2010 equivalent of Paper Planes; except where that was basically just a good sample with some tired sounding samples and annoying vocals, this will be http://991.com/newgallery/Terrorvision-Autographed-Publi-326554.jpg + tired sounding samples and annoying vocals.

Sorta tempted to start a poll to decide which former ILM darling is now the most hated. First two obvious inclusions would be MIA and Hold Steady, with possibly a nod to Joanna Newsom.

I wouldn't want to live in a world where my primary musical association with "Tequila" was with some group called Terrorvision who look like that and not with, you know, the Champs.

not feeling the video - there's no reason for it to be 9 minutes long ans for all the viscera there's a pointlessness to the entire concept
It's a few months too late, but MIA was trying to say that she's with Coco.

actually, i think the video fits in well with m.i.a.'s work. it's got that ominous vibe and -- here's the key -- it's vaguely political. i love her lyrics, but you can't really tell where she's coming from with them, other than the fact that she's an "underground revolutionary."
and i wasn't kidding about the video being deeply unsettling (i don't think i really had chest pains over it). but i liked it -- the video played with my point-of-view and challenged my sympathies, all of which is something that good music and videos can do.

rly? i wasn't glued to the screen, but it was kind of saying The Man is bad, although the fact that he was rounding up redheads is kind of quirky. it definitely has a 'punishment park' vibe, and 'punishment park' is didactic, hectoring shit.
