But I'd like to hear it in something better.

i don't dislike the song or anything, but the piano intro here should really be used as a sample, by someone very rich.

The Cure's "Close to Me" and "Lullaby" would also make great samples but not sure if they've been used properly in the past.

Moka, Wednesday, 13 April 2011 16:55 (thirteen years ago) link

Mmm just checked and "close to me" has been used by seeed, sort of covered by Lady Sovereign and mash-uped with Robyn. Seeed track makes me think if slowed down a bit, and with a few more beats would make a brilliant riddim.

Reminded by another thread where Scott S just bought a copy of this album. Anyway, I'm amazed if nobody has sampled about 1:43 in to this:

George Hurley drum parts would be a gold mine. Has he been sampled much?

Steamtable Willie (WmC), Saturday, 14 January 2012 21:18 (twelve years ago) link

this wouldn't be as good as i'm imagining i'm sure but i've had a recurring thought of kool and the gang's "too hot" sampled by the jacka or something -- kind of his regular synth beat with a chorus sampling that somewhat odd bridge "feeling the pain."

Far as I know that Al Stewart song hasn't been sampled and it's a good choice.

Also loving that vivo sonhando version by Luiz Henrique. Never heard it before. Definitely stealing that one if I ever become a producer.

Wiz Khalifa has rapped on top of Chrono Trigger so I guess it wouldn't be that out of place to sample one of the greatest game soundtracks of all time:

I somehow remember this one being sampled (or covered?) already, but I can't seem to find any info on it. Any help finding it?

always wanted to make a beat out of In the City by the Eagles. Apparently some dude named Agallah did it, but the production sucks.

Ok I'm almost 100% sure that some (american?) disco artist covered that Esmeray track at some point but I can't find any info on it. It seems Turkey doesn't exist in the internets.

Moka, Monday, 6 May 2013 20:52 (eleven years ago) link

It's funny that this topic has cropped up, because I was listening to some music on shuffle play earlier and 'Beggars Farm' by Jethro Tull came on (from the album This Was) and I was so tempted to sample and loop the intro.

Turns out that Esmeray song which I was mentioning would make a brilliant sample has in fact been sampled by none other than Public Enemy. Only Shirley Bassey's version titled Jezahel.
