so psyched

"well why not put together a cd of completely unreleased stuff if you feel its that strong? Housemates in fabric first so i'll still look forward to hearing it, i'd actually slept on his stuff until quite recently but been hammering whatever I can get my hands
― straightola"
he says in their press blurb that he wanted to keep some of his more recognized tracks on there for the people who haven't heard them. i feel like he is still widely slept on, hopefully this will change that! i can't believe he didn't put "just ask the lonely" on it though....

i am loving this.
― mark e, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 10:03 (fifteen years ago) link
i was just playing devils advocate really, i love his stuff. Anyone spot the exclusive tracks? ive only a few of the singles and the compilation album
― straightola, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 10:16 (fifteen years ago) link
i think these the only exclusives. all of the others have definitely been released, but i don't know these:
01. Omar-S - Polycopter02. Omar-S - Flying Gorgars05. Omar-S - Crusin Conant08. Omar-S - 1 Out Of 853 Beats
― resolved, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 10:18 (fifteen years ago) link
i've no idea given that this is all new tro me. however, in the press release gubbins :
"there are about four tracks on there that haven't been released yet"
xpost. and there are the four listed !
― mark e, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 10:21 (fifteen years ago) link
he has a new 12" out on sound signature too. his first full 12" release that's not on FXHE i think?
― resolved, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 12:32 (fifteen years ago) link
is the fabric mix out?
― elan, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 17:40 (fifteen years ago) link
I don't think so elan. According to the RA link above, "Fabric will release Fabric 45: Omar-S on March 16 in the UK and April 7 in the US." Do you have a review copy or something mark e or are you a Fabric subscriber?
― matt2, Tuesday, 3 February 2009 21:40 (fifteen years ago) link
i am looking forward to this fabric business so much. i love his ridiculously cocky persona, too... esp if the dude is actually dorky and nervous as someone hinted above
― all-seeing eye of horus (psychgawsple), Tuesday, 3 February 2009 23:57 (fifteen years ago) link
omar-s iceblock tray, lol
that new one on sound signature has a track called 'deep valve cover'. how detroit do you wanna get?

he's the best place to get his records from, at least if you're in america. great prices and he might call you to confirm the order and then you can talk about music and whatever.
― elan, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 17:41 (fifteen years ago) link
i mean, who else is selling eps for $5 and lps for $10 anymore?? it's fucking crazy. and free shipping if you buy more than $20. you can get four new singles for the same price as one or two anywhere else.

"Psychotic Photosynthesis" is the best record I've heard in ten years from any-damn-body.
this man is an absolute gem

why is someone being macho/arrogant really so fascinating?
I like his music plenty but seriously, the jizzing over crankiness and narkiness that goes on in pop culture is a farce.
― Local Garda, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 20:03 (fifteen years ago) link
why is it crankiness and snarkiness? and who else talks like this on the record? the guy just doesn't give a fuck about what people think or do, he does his thing and does it ridiculously well. if that's not inspiring, i don't know what is.
― pipecock, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 20:10 (fifteen years ago) link

― Local Garda, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 20:40 (fifteen years ago) link
yeah they're basically exactly the same, but only if the listener is retarded. which in your case must be true!
― pipecock, Wednesday, 4 February 2009 20:43 (fifteen years ago) link
strange that he's never heard of villalobos when he's like 100 times more famous than himself.

aside from the retarded hype surrounding the Martinez Brothers (are they really even deep house?), even the "new" guys on this scene tend to be older.
― pipecock
my guess is you people wouldnt know soul in music if it smacked you in the face. if you think a frequency range or dynamic level has anything to do with soul, youre probably retarded
some of the most retarded things i have ever read in my entire life appear in this thread.
-- pipecock
when i say this same thing about house and techno music, people think that's not a valid viewpoint. the longer the knockoffs are around and the greater they are in numbers, the more they begin to write the popular opinion. which is of course pretty retarded.
disliking sugar ray is also just retarded, i wish they were still putting out a summer jam every year.
from djhistory
is it serious? i think its seriously retarded when people try to say they're from somewhere that theyre not so they can get some kind of credibility or something
am i supposed to care that my fashion sense isnt cool enough for ILM? hahahahaha. too funny. it's like being back in high school, but more retarded.
― pipecock, Wednesday, April 16, 2008 12:43 AM Bookmark
that is literally the most retarded thing ive ever heard anyone say on any music forum ever, and that is saying a lot. how can you possibly be that retarded? how?
― pipecock, Wednesday, November 21, 2007 6:53 PM Bookmark
typically retarded ilm attitude. good luck with that!

this album is like Moodymann for white music. not 100% wack, but pretty blandly inoffensive and not really very interesting to me. the fact that they take writing credit for it is pretty retarded too.

the new one beats HW, it will be the most retarded thing ever. HAA is pretty much complete garbage, no matter what your angle is.

They don't want money, they don't want to put out good music. They want to do that shit half-ass
so OTM. hate it when people don't push it creatively & businesswise. if you see music as a cool temporary hobby, please don't release anything.
