I love Koo Koo so much! I've hung on to a promo light-up display through numerous moves since 1981. It has some really great parts, and it's never less than interesting. But I'd never try to convince anyone it's the best record on that list.

I think if I made a big album list it would end up looking a lot like this one - some pretty obscure stuff alongside pretty well-known stuff from a broad range of genres. But I don't know if we would overlap much on the specific choices. Most of the albums I'm familiar with here are things I at least like. Not sure if any really stand out for me. Some interesting things to check out though.

Faces, Ooh La La (1973)
Really? Over A Nod is as Good as a Wink or Long Player? I mean, I dig Ooh La La fine, but wouldn't peg it as superessential Faces.
Voted Pod. By far my favorite Pixies record.

I see where you're coming from, but many of these albums are totally sentimental picks (and a lot were the intros to the particular bands for me).
lol I see what you did there.

i assume these picks aren't all necessarily JF's favorite by the artist so much as something he liked and wanted to write about?

dope list! you should just do some tiny little 1-2 sentence blurbs. or is that played out?
― windjamm voyager (blank), Monday, 27 August 2012 02:14 (eleven years ago) link
I may throw some blurbs at particular albums, but not all 1001 of them.
So far, they all actually are my favorites by the artist.

I know what you're saying, though: "Johnny Fever, how is Flesh + Blood your favorite Roxy Music album? That's insane." Yes, it's insane, but it's the case.
― Johnny Fever, Monday, 27 August 2012 02:18 (eleven years ago) link
so when are you making a playlist/mixtape of your favorite cuts?
― choom gangnam style (get bent), Monday, 27 August 2012 02:29 (eleven years ago) link
I'll probably do Spotify playlists 100 at a time (some of the stuff isn't on there, but a lot is).

Sort of torn between
Bobbi Humphrey, Blacks and Blues (1973)Utah Saints, Utah Saints (1992)
― Eric H., Monday, 27 August 2012 17:39 (eleven years ago) link
I hope at least one person votes for Utah Saints. I already copped upthread to that being the only album on the list so far I would consider a questionable recommendation, but I love it so much I'm gonna recommend it anyway.

i think my tastes are relatively close to j. fever's <3
these polls are ridiculous tho -- one out of 50 is madness

one out of 50 is madness
true, but since there will eventually be 1001, I'd be clogging up the board with polls of just 20 or so.

Man, I totally gave up on this in the 200s. I need to finish it up someday, WITH blurbs.
