congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 18:18 (eleven years ago) link

Oh shit, I hadn't heard about that Lottery thing! Is that on iTunes or anywhere else I can just buy the bonus tracks? Already have the other stuff. Also, lol @ the bOTTomless pit / lOTTery on their website.

heated debate over derpy hooves (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 18:24 (eleven years ago) link

I wish they had their own release beyond being tethered to a repackaging of both albums. Haven't checked if the tracks are on itunes though.

Evan, Wednesday, 19 September 2012 18:25 (eleven years ago) link

I heard the extra tracks via spotify, it's just two new/unreleased songs and a fast version of winterwind so I don't feel too bad about not buying lottery when I already paid for the two albums. Bonus tracks are choice though.

congratulations (n/a), Wednesday, 19 September 2012 19:10 (eleven years ago) link

yeah the bonus tracks are really sweet but yeah i don't feel like re-buying stuff i already own on vinyl

Stream a new song from the new album, Shade Perennial

For folks in the upper midwest, they will be playing Oct 5th at the Kitty Kat Club in Mpls

new song is very, very good

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:05 (ten years ago) link

can't decide if i want to listen to it or wait for the full album

congratulations (n/a), Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:17 (ten years ago) link

New album yes!

Evan, Tuesday, 10 September 2013 15:27 (ten years ago) link

This is sweet. Blood Under the Bridge was one of my favorite albums from 2010, and I was half-worried they were breaking up or something when they put out that retrospective album.

zchyrs, Friday, 13 September 2013 01:02 (ten years ago) link

new song is really great

got*

Evan, Friday, 27 September 2013 17:24 (ten years ago) link

Yeah I heard it yesterday, need to let it sink in (was distracted while listening) but it's a short, punchy treat.

Ned Raggett, Friday, 27 September 2013 17:25 (ten years ago) link

I just put it on now. So far it's the song I already heard. I don't think there is any way I won't love this.

Evan, Friday, 27 September 2013 18:31 (ten years ago) link

I have to wait a week. A week AND a day! Lame.

chr1sb3singer, Friday, 27 September 2013 18:43 (ten years ago) link

oh shit missed this, ordered

adam, Friday, 27 September 2013 18:47 (ten years ago) link

This was(is) so great. The last song killed me, I'm not sure why.
It wasn't the lyrics, I have this problem where I don't focus on them very often for anyone, generally. I just get sucked up in the music.
But musically it's just a super solid record.

Evan, Friday, 27 September 2013 19:05 (ten years ago) link

so this is the rockinest bp record, huh

call all destroyer, Thursday, 3 October 2013 20:59 (ten years ago) link

Holy crap this record is great.

Saw them last night, always, always a treat

chr1sb3singer, Sunday, 6 October 2013 21:17 (ten years ago) link

oh man, i had no idea this was out.

JACK SQUAT about these Charlie Nobodies (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 7 October 2013 15:16 (ten years ago) link

Saturday night was a classic BP/SKWM crowd, not very large but a couple who drove from Canada and a kid from Pittsburgh now going to the U of MN who was a superfan but never seen them before and was basicaly freaking out the whole night, it was great.

chr1sb3singer, Monday, 7 October 2013 15:27 (ten years ago) link

three listens in, this is obviously brilliant, one of the best records of the year, etc.

funny though, i was listening to blood under the bridge tonight and all the vox on that album are super forward and comprehensible. on the new one, they seem mixed way down and i can't make a lot of them out--result is this seems a lot more oblique than any bp stuff to date.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 8 October 2013 23:28 (ten years ago) link

Yeah, I think this new one is really solid but I feel like the tracks blend together a bit more. Maybe it's the lack of dynamics.

Evan, Wednesday, 9 October 2013 13:46 (ten years ago) link

Loving this record. Going to see them next month in Mad City.

chr1sb3singer, Wednesday, 23 October 2013 15:42 (ten years ago) link

are they a 3 piece now?

lorde willin' (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 23 October 2013 17:37 (ten years ago) link

They're doing a free in-store and a real show here in Chicago, gonna try and hit both.

Immediate Follower (NA), Wednesday, 23 October 2013 17:40 (ten years ago) link

Man my pre-order got delivered really early, huh.

No same four piece line-up

chr1sb3singer, Wednesday, 23 October 2013 18:50 (ten years ago) link

Saw them play the new album (and a Jason Molina song as an encore) yesterday at an in-store. It's crazy to me how well they make the baritone guitar and the bass guitar work together. They never really seem to step on each others' toes. I want a baritone guitar.

I'm still planning on driving to Madison this Saturday to see BP, even though it is supposed to goddamn snow this week. Milwaukee folks should be aware they are playing this Friday at Frank's with Light Coma (Brian O from BP's band, who are just fucking awesome) & the excellent Wereworm

Bailey (Collins) Lover (Eazy), Monday, 4 November 2013 20:09 (ten years ago) link

is that NA cut off at the extreme right?

JACK SQUAT about these Charlie Nobodies (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Monday, 4 November 2013 20:15 (ten years ago) link

Ha yep

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 4 November 2013 20:45 (ten years ago) link

Does anyone know what the pedals are that Tim uses? the ones that look like the bass pedals from a piano/organ? I couldn't tell if he was using them to trigger an effect pedal or if they are tied to his crazy custom baritone guitar.

Immediate Follower (NA), Monday, 4 November 2013 20:47 (ten years ago) link

Good show last in Madison, though the sound was spotty in parts, cuz it was literally a clothing store, but still worthwhile They played "Red Pen" and "Rhinelander" which was nice treat. A fun and Wisconsin-strange night.

chr1sb3singer, Sunday, 10 November 2013 23:57 (ten years ago) link

this record kicks so much ass

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 11 November 2013 02:05 (ten years ago) link

i love how cohesive it is and also how each song is like its own expanding universe

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Monday, 11 November 2013 02:07 (ten years ago) link

I liked it to being with, but the more I listen to it the more I enjoy it. Really great.

chr1sb3singer, Monday, 11 November 2013 15:19 (ten years ago) link

on the new one, they seem mixed way down and i can't make a lot of them out--result is this seems a lot more oblique than any bp stuff to date.

this is one of my favorite things about this record - it feels really muted and understated, but then every so often a killer line comes out of nowhere and just knocks me out cold. "i have limits to my personality/i'll be anyone as long as you want me." jesus christ.

yeah this is great so far

love the rhythm section on this, so groove oriented, just repetitive loops played so great

lorde willin' (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Monday, 11 November 2013 21:27 (ten years ago) link

chris was saying best thing since Italian Platinum and i'm starting to agree

lorde willin' (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 13 November 2013 20:09 (ten years ago) link

Still think the Congress EP is the best thing they've done myself.

Evan, Wednesday, 13 November 2013 20:11 (ten years ago) link

yeah that's great too, but this is getting right up there for me.
