Fightin' in the female MC community.. after Tymee (evia)'s go in the 'Control' chaos Jolly V calls her out, mentions Kitti B as well https://soundcloud.com/officialslsd/jolly-v-bad-bitches

More interesting is the all-female rnb/hip hop crew called out by Jolly V that Kitti B is a part of , which I meant to mention here ages ago: AMRT/Amourette - some good debut singles this year, smooth rnb, good vibes; The interesting twist is that all the (rnb) members produce their own singles: Nieah - Belief http://youtu.be/li7kUuy_nhcHoody - My Ride: http://youtu.be/QJZFndxn9oc

Nice!
If the point to the beef was to get some publicity, mission accomplished, I guess.
Also Nieah and 2NE1's Minzy sound eerily alike.

Crayon Pop's Christmas single is cute. SNSD's Chinese OST song is good! Gummy and Weesung's new duet is also really good.

Jolly V wins. The translation doesn't say; does she invoke or diss Eminem and Outsider there?Tymee and Kitty's English interjections are hysterical though.
It turns out my favourites The Seeya and SPEED aren't dead, and neither is the gwiyomi, apparently. Both groups have been rolled out of the CCM vault recently; here they perform "Painkiller" together at the Mongolia CCM show.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saePlPp0wd0
I really like JeA-composed "Scandal" from Ailee's last album.
― centurionofprix, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 03:10 (ten years ago) link
I mean the lyrics, not the translation.
Anyway, that is interesting about TZECHAR! I was wondering why some of it is called Lam Suet. Some of their work, like the Seungri remix above, really is amazing.
― centurionofprix, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 03:17 (ten years ago) link
Gwiyomi lives on mainly as a form of bullying.
That performance is really good!
― hurricane weather (forapper), Wednesday, 4 December 2013 03:23 (ten years ago) link
Aw, I did not know that (though perhaps ought to have guessed). They make the person recite it?
― centurionofprix, Wednesday, 4 December 2013 16:08 (ten years ago) link
I was kind of joking, but yeah the whole point is to make the target do something embarrassing XD. (Or at least pretend-embarrassing.)
― hurricane weather (forapper), Saturday, 7 December 2013 01:53 (ten years ago) link
hahaha. I'm slow, you'll have to dumb these quips down a bit next time.
this is... ANOTHER JYP PRODUCTION.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-GhkCWuihA
love this song.
― centurionofprix, Sunday, 8 December 2013 04:00 (ten years ago) link
another larger-than-life JYP creation... this is our story.
― centurionofprix, Sunday, 8 December 2013 04:17 (ten years ago) link
I could have sworn that was earlier in the thread somewhere, but I can't open this thread anymore without crashing my browser, so good job digging it out centurion haha.
(BTW for other people who are having trouble loading the whole thread, I have a playlist of top picks from the last four months in Kpop, mostly taken from here. JYP is on there!)

Haven't really been following K-pop but
Are we nominating anything for the ILM year-end poll?
― 乒乓, Wednesday, 11 December 2013 14:51 (ten years ago) link
Looking at what I like, the only artists that might have a chance are G-Dragon, f(x) and TOP
― 乒乓, Wednesday, 11 December 2013 14:53 (ten years ago) link
xchuckx eddy put something on his Rhapsody top 50 tracks list I saw linked on Facebook but doh, I forget
― curmudgeon, Wednesday, 11 December 2013 14:55 (ten years ago) link
One of the tracks that made it to Singles Jukebox maybe? I'd support Doom Dada, I Got a Boy, What's Your Name, Gone Not Around Any Longer, I Like That, even they aren't my personal favorites of the year.
Right now I want to see Crayon Pop's Lonely Christmas on a year-end list, and 2PM's A.D.T.O.Y.
― hurricane weather (forapper), Thursday, 12 December 2013 03:37 (ten years ago) link
Oh and someone ought to nominate "Gentleman" just for lols
― hurricane weather (forapper), Thursday, 12 December 2013 03:44 (ten years ago) link
Oh My God I should have used my TSJ Amnesty Week to talk about 2PM. Or JYP's old person makeup! brb drowning in regret
― hurricane weather (forapper), Thursday, 12 December 2013 03:47 (ten years ago) link
Actually what I really want to see on a year-end list right now is this:

― hurricane weather (forapper), Thursday, 12 December 2013 03:56 (ten years ago) link
Love GD but nothing he put out this year belongs on the ILM EOY list imo. Will prob vote for TOP, f(x) and Sistar19.
Also I saw someone nominated "Bar Bar Bar", and there's a perverse part of me that badly wants to inflict Crayon Pop on the ILM masses.
― Roz, Thursday, 12 December 2013 04:28 (ten years ago) link
Lololol we should try to get crayon pop on the EOY
― 乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 04:35 (ten years ago) link
But... Bar Bar Bar :( I'd support any other Crayon Pop song besides that one!
― hurricane weather (forapper), Thursday, 12 December 2013 04:36 (ten years ago) link
JUMPING! Yeah! JUMPING! Yeah!
― Roz, Thursday, 12 December 2013 04:53 (ten years ago) link
I nommed I Got a Boy and Doom Dada, would enthusiastically get behind either as consensus pick. I don't get Bar Bar Bar.
Any thoughts on the album list? Pink Tape is going near the top of mine for sure, might it have any chance of making it?
― Iain Mew (if), Thursday, 12 December 2013 12:17 (ten years ago) link
Went ahead and nominated Rum Pum Pum PUm, seems to be the highest scoring K-pop single on TSJ this year
― 乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 14:18 (ten years ago) link
I was going to vote for Airplane, cause I like it more, but am okay with voting for Rum Pum Pum Pum if that's what everyone wants (don't want a repeat of the BigBang vote-splitting from last year).
xpost voting for Pink Tape too, it's the only K-pop album I really loved this year.
― Roz, Thursday, 12 December 2013 14:24 (ten years ago) link
Rum Pum Pum Pum is far from my favourite on Pink Tape but same, I'd get behind it too.
I wonder if I Got a Boy is the most likely to have made an impression on non K-Pop followers, or if that is overestimating the impact of the YouTube award and stuff.
― Iain Mew (if), Thursday, 12 December 2013 14:40 (ten years ago) link
Agree that Airplane is better than RPPP
Well there's a few weeks left yet to decide
― 乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 15:40 (ten years ago) link
I'll probably vote for Airplane and Gone Not Around Any Longer.
― freemen (on the) space (seandalai), Thursday, 12 December 2013 16:33 (ten years ago) link
We could do the jun areia remix of I Got a Boy: http://youtu.be/JFx7AHvubNk
― hurricane weather (forapper), Thursday, 12 December 2013 17:28 (ten years ago) link
I'm going to nominate JYP's Had Enough Parties, I think.
― hurricane weather (forapper), Thursday, 12 December 2013 17:34 (ten years ago) link
I'll vote for that for sure
― 乒乓, Thursday, 12 December 2013 17:40 (ten years ago) link
"had enough parties" is totally incredible and i'd vote for it too

You can kind of view the whole thread by using a plugin to disable flash, then using ctrl+f or whatever to search for keywords. This of course only works insofar as people say something relevant about the songs they embed...
In addition to JYP, GLAM and Sistar19, I think T-ara's "Number Nine" or "Wild" by Nine Muses were my strongest songs of the year. Wild in particular gets better every time I hear/watch it, like my shoddy faculties are able to take in just a little more of the genius.
T-ara's new "Do You Know Me" is great, especially live. Here the fanchant kind of serves as the final chorus the song needs, whereas the record fizzles out with what sounds like the bridge into a brief instrumental ending: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIJFhQnw83Y
Strangely "Do You Know Me" seemed to flop really hard on the charts.
― centurionofprix, Thursday, 12 December 2013 21:52 (ten years ago) link
and hey, EXID apparently are set to come back in January!

You don't need a plugin, just go to preferences and uncheck "Display Images"

A+, would like a spare late pass if you get one
― Roz, Friday, 13 December 2013 15:31 (ten years ago) link
Her new EP is also great. Younha kpop AOTY for me, maybe.
For the year-end race I will vote for I Got A Boy and Bar Bar Bar. I Got A Boy should be the most famous of them among peple outsidethis thread, even with some viralness in Crayon Pop's success. f(x) should get votes from all here in the album's race right?
― abcfsk, Friday, 13 December 2013 16:11 (ten years ago) link
And by AOTY I mean artist, not album.
― abcfsk, Friday, 13 December 2013 16:13 (ten years ago) link
That T-ara performane really is great

Did we have AOA Confused on here yet? Seems like the (visual) inspiration for Nine Muses Gun.

Excellent cover of 2NE1's Missing You: http://youtu.be/s22U-v6wOOM?t=8s
I might've almost cried! :p
(For real though, as much as I like 2NE1, they aren't good at emoting sadness, except maybe Minzy (and Dara?). This cover, though, is, like, actually sad. The "geuriwo haeyo" part is still terrible though, even when it's being sung by someone who can actually hit the notes.)
― hurricane weather (forapper), Wednesday, 18 December 2013 03:11 (ten years ago) link
And speaking of sad songs, I'm liking EXO First Snow a lot right now... and here's an amazing "sad version" of EXO Growl: Scans awkwardly in a few places, but the cover singer is so good. All her covers are sad but I think the schtick works particularly well for Growl.

This is a good year for winter songs in Kpop, I think. Junhyung "Flower" is another really nice one.
