Haven't really been following K-pop but

Are we nominating anything for the ILM year-end poll?

Looking at what I like, the only artists that might have a chance are G-Dragon, f(x) and TOP

xchuckx eddy put something on his Rhapsody top 50 tracks list I saw linked on Facebook but doh, I forget

One of the tracks that made it to Singles Jukebox maybe? I'd support Doom Dada, I Got a Boy, What's Your Name, Gone Not Around Any Longer, I Like That, even they aren't my personal favorites of the year.

Right now I want to see Crayon Pop's Lonely Christmas on a year-end list, and 2PM's A.D.T.O.Y.

Oh and someone ought to nominate "Gentleman" just for lols

Love GD but nothing he put out this year belongs on the ILM EOY list imo. Will prob vote for TOP, f(x) and Sistar19.

Also I saw someone nominated "Bar Bar Bar", and there's a perverse part of me that badly wants to inflict Crayon Pop on the ILM masses.

I nommed I Got a Boy and Doom Dada, would enthusiastically get behind either as consensus pick. I don't get Bar Bar Bar.

Any thoughts on the album list? Pink Tape is going near the top of mine for sure, might it have any chance of making it?

Went ahead and nominated Rum Pum Pum PUm, seems to be the highest scoring K-pop single on TSJ this year

I was going to vote for Airplane, cause I like it more, but am okay with voting for Rum Pum Pum Pum if that's what everyone wants (don't want a repeat of the BigBang vote-splitting from last year).

xpost voting for Pink Tape too, it's the only K-pop album I really loved this year.

Rum Pum Pum Pum is far from my favourite on Pink Tape but same, I'd get behind it too.

I wonder if I Got a Boy is the most likely to have made an impression on non K-Pop followers, or if that is overestimating the impact of the YouTube award and stuff.

You can kind of view the whole thread by using a plugin to disable flash, then using ctrl+f or whatever to search for keywords. This of course only works insofar as people say something relevant about the songs they embed...

In addition to JYP, GLAM and Sistar19, I think T-ara's "Number Nine" or "Wild" by Nine Muses were my strongest songs of the year. Wild in particular gets better every time I hear/watch it, like my shoddy faculties are able to take in just a little more of the genius.

T-ara's new "Do You Know Me" is great, especially live. Here the fanchant kind of serves as the final chorus the song needs, whereas the record fizzles out with what sounds like the bridge into a brief instrumental ending:

For the year-end race I will vote for I Got A Boy and Bar Bar Bar. I Got A Boy should be the most famous of them among peple outsidethis thread, even with some viralness in Crayon Pop's success. f(x) should get votes from all here in the album's race right?

(For real though, as much as I like 2NE1, they aren't good at emoting sadness, except maybe Minzy (and Dara?). This cover, though, is, like, actually sad. The "geuriwo haeyo" part is still terrible though, even when it's being sung by someone who can actually hit the notes.)

And speaking of sad songs, I'm liking EXO First Snow a lot right now... and here's an amazing "sad version" of EXO Growl: Scans awkwardly in a few places, but the cover singer is so good. All her covers are sad but I think the schtick works particularly well for Growl.

This is a good year for winter songs in Kpop, I think. Junhyung "Flower" is another really nice one.

I nominated EvoL's "Get Up" 'cause not only is it liked on this thread but it's gotten support from people I don't generally associate with K-pop (e.g., Scott Woods just put it in his eoy top ten). Which is interesting since it did fuck all on the Gaon Chart. I won't nominate anything else so as not to split votes.

Chuck Eddy listed 2YOON, Crayon Pop, and Psy over at Rhapsody. I'm growing to love the 2YOON, but it's got zilch chance of racking up the numbers. (I think Chuck also finally convinced himself it was eligible for his Country Music Critics ballot. It'll be on mine as well.)

My P&J ballot has two songs (including my #1 (although P&J songs aren't weighted)) that I only knew about from this thread. So thanks!

"Flower" touches me in a way that no Beast song has. Isn't trying to force the drama as much, but is effectively tense around that beat-beat-beat-beat.

Although scanning back through the thread, I see that neither song was actually mentioned here by name, so it's more accurate to say that I discovered them as a result of this thread. And, in fact, doing a little more research, I discover that one of those two is actually a two-year-old b-side, so make that one song.
