What are the must-eat spots these days? I remember enjoying Breakfast at the Bistro.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Wednesday, 29 January 2014 18:45 (ten years ago) link

I just got the email about daily tickets -- is that for people who just want to go to one day OR does a person need to secure tickets on top of buying the weekend pass? I'm confused.

mambo jumbo (La Lechera), Wednesday, 29 January 2014 21:10 (ten years ago) link

its for people who just want to go to one day

1 P.3. Eternal (roxymuzak), Wednesday, 29 January 2014 21:31 (ten years ago) link

ok phew -- i was bracing myself for a mad rush to secure more tickets
i am basically thinking about this festival in every spare moment because i need something to look forward to!

mambo jumbo (La Lechera), Wednesday, 29 January 2014 21:33 (ten years ago) link

Wish I was going to this, but a bad time for me. Hope to hear some serious reports though.

grandavis, Wednesday, 29 January 2014 21:51 (ten years ago) link

New daydream -- Church of Anthrax reunion (Terry Riley was at the last festival, right? It's not inconceivable?)

we slowly invented brains (La Lechera), Saturday, 1 February 2014 17:14 (ten years ago) link

Has there ever been an American festival that has pulled off an avant thing of this scale?

Maybe the old New Music America festivals in the 80s/early 90s (if they lasted that long)? That tended to be more classical avant-garde focused, but not exclusively.

_Rudipherous_, Saturday, 1 February 2014 17:25 (ten years ago) link

Weirdly underdocumented online. I'm sure most of the shows were videotaped, but there's hardly anything on youtube. Not finding pdfs of programs either. The only one I went to was the Philadelphia festival, in 1987.

The Big Ears twitter told me Friday was a full day of programming

So, I'm guessing as early as noon to as late as 5pm...

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 19:58 (ten years ago) link

alright well i guess i'll just drive straight from home to the show then
i can't leave home any earlier than friday morning, unfortunately

we slowly invented brains (La Lechera), Tuesday, 4 February 2014 20:01 (ten years ago) link

2009 and 2010 both started at 5pm.

we slowly invented brains (La Lechera), Monday, 17 March 2014 18:36 (ten years ago) link

Either they don't have everything in the schedule or something's not displaying right in any of my browsers.

Corporal Clegg, you've got a lovely daughter (WilliamC), Monday, 17 March 2014 20:24 (ten years ago) link

the official schedule's not being released until sometime tomorrow. lots of weird gaps on there now—i'm curious about how they get filled.

my "hahaha" was in anticipation, not mockery -- who could turn down a laughter workshop?
