v tasteful flickers of electric piano behind her voice throughout

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 24 January 2014 18:57 (ten years ago) link

oh i see this actually came out in 2013 oh well

emo canon in twee major (BradNelson), Friday, 24 January 2014 19:02 (ten years ago) link

yeah great single. Came out last fall but didn't get a video until this week, so it's current.

Evan R, Friday, 24 January 2014 19:10 (ten years ago) link

It's the first Pharrell track I'd heard in a while where I didn't immediately go "Oh, Pharrell," even though it's pretty obviously him when you think about it

Evan R, Friday, 24 January 2014 19:11 (ten years ago) link

i'm digging this rico love song

i bet it's better than anything on the next trey songz album

it's certainly better than the new ty dolla EP (which is purposefully only okay anyway)

oh wow i didn't even guess

Love j hud in the video, ti's interjections throughout (aside from the actual rap) throw me out of things a bit.

Tim F, Friday, 24 January 2014 20:38 (ten years ago) link

lovely hook on that j hud thing

pearly-dewdrops' bops (monotony), Friday, 24 January 2014 21:29 (ten years ago) link

was talking about Rico Love's EP on last year's thread, it's really dope, glad the single eventually popped off big

the J-Hud feels very transparently Pharrell to me, think it's a pretty wack song. J-Hud in the video tho <3

one second I'm a goons, then suddenly the goons is me (some dude), Friday, 24 January 2014 21:34 (ten years ago) link

this rico love ep is really gross. side-eyeing two of three songs so far is not a good strike rate

lex pretend, Wednesday, 29 January 2014 15:16 (ten years ago) link

thankfully "they don't know" isn't one of the gross ones and it sounds decent

lex pretend, Wednesday, 29 January 2014 15:19 (ten years ago) link

if you ignore like two lyrics (both of which are bleeped out on the radio) it can be fun to pretend that "they don't know" is about another guy

dyl, Wednesday, 29 January 2014 16:49 (ten years ago) link

haha "They Don't Know" is definitely one of the gross songs!

some dude, Wednesday, 29 January 2014 16:50 (ten years ago) link

most of them are gross but still listenable

dyl, Wednesday, 29 January 2014 16:54 (ten years ago) link

bando jonez (lol) track is pretty great... some real early jeremih vibes

this song is hilarious

The best feeling I can muster for a new Jodeci album produced by Timbo is cautious optimism: http://www.missinfo.tv/index.php/timbaland-is-helping-produce-a-new-jodeci-album/

Murgatroid, Monday, 3 February 2014 17:12 (ten years ago) link

Whoa, that could be really good. And if it's not, nothing lost.

Evan R, Monday, 3 February 2014 17:18 (ten years ago) link

you guys

le goon (J0rdan S.), Monday, 3 February 2014 17:40 (ten years ago) link

the algebra blessett album is really good. she walks that line between poised and emotional with such ease. "danger zone", "recovery" and "forever" especially

lex pretend, Monday, 3 February 2014 17:45 (ten years ago) link

good, looking forward to that

k3vin k., Monday, 3 February 2014 17:52 (ten years ago) link

Yeah this Blessett album is hitting the spot; thanks for the rec

Evan R, Monday, 3 February 2014 18:55 (ten years ago) link

new J Holiday 'Guilty Conscience' is kinda nice too. Thinkin About You, After We and Guilty Conscience are worth checking.

i like the babyface & braxton album.

sisilafami, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 16:45 (ten years ago) link

"heart attack" is so good off that album

lex pretend, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 16:47 (ten years ago) link

it is pretty nice all the way thru. their voices + the production are so soothingly pleasant to listen to that i haven't even really noticed the lyrics yet.

dyl, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 20:51 (ten years ago) link

This is good. Take It Back is basically exactly Sade's By My Side tho.

Spottie, Tuesday, 4 February 2014 21:13 (ten years ago) link

just dropping in to say Babyface/Braxton is GREAT

Fight the Powers that Be with this Powerful Les Paul! (DJP), Wednesday, 5 February 2014 14:51 (ten years ago) link

what do we think of TAMAR Braxton's "All the Way Home"?

Bryan Fairy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 5 February 2014 14:59 (ten years ago) link

i'm a big fan, definitely one of the best tracks on a hit-and-miss album

scott c-word (some dude), Wednesday, 5 February 2014 15:00 (ten years ago) link

babyface/braxton just SOUNDS so good - just really natural and unforced and obv their voices are a perfect match. it sounds more like the 90s than any 90s throwback but not b/c they're making a point about the 90s but b/c they're old and those are clothes that suit them best. this carries even the 1-2 weaker songs but the other fantastic thing is how indelible some of the hooks are, like "roller coaster", that chorus, just wow. and then lyrically you get something like "i wish"!!!!!

lex pretend, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 16:25 (ten years ago) link

also that new ciara/future duet is just incredible, they sound even more besotted with each other

lex pretend, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 16:28 (ten years ago) link

reverby guitar is a good look for both too

lex pretend, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 16:29 (ten years ago) link

predictably i am enjoying this j holiday record

k3vin k., Wednesday, 5 February 2014 23:18 (ten years ago) link

me n u bro

Spottie, Wednesday, 5 February 2014 23:25 (ten years ago) link

predictably I'm loving this Braxton-Babyface record. "I Wish" has the most devastating lyric I've heard in months: "Please don't have a girl/
Cause you'll give that woman the world"!!!!! Talk about otm.

Bryan Fairy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 5 February 2014 23:28 (ten years ago) link

Not sure I love it yet--there sure is a lot more & Divorce than Love, Marriage--but the highs are pretty high: "I Wish," for sure, and "Where Did We Go Wrong" are both shattering.

Inside Lewellyn Sinclair (cryptosicko), Wednesday, 5 February 2014 23:54 (ten years ago) link

oooh, "i wish". parts of it almost recall "this woman's work"

k3vin k., Thursday, 6 February 2014 00:07 (ten years ago) link

and she wrote it herself! Is it her first solo composition?

Bryan Fairy (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 6 February 2014 00:09 (ten years ago) link

OH SNAP!
