yeah she started talking about the Graves Disease in 2011 and how that was part of why she hadn't been releasing new music. then she said she was doing better and released two singles in 2012, but they didn't really take off, so now we are 3 years later with still no news about the album. hope she's doing better healthwise.

Pharrell is so all over the beats that the song feels like an alternate physical embodiment of him at times, which Missy is holding by the ankles and whirling around her head like it's nbd, this is just her motherfuckin' show

hoverboards fit missy's aesthetic so perfectly

speaking as a huge missy fan this song is not too good, she def sounds like shes been on the shelf for the better part of a decade and pharrells rapping is typically awful

to be fair this did happen with those terrible missy singles a couple of years ago, but i am fairly sure this is legitimately good! we'll wait and see about greatness

This seems like a self-conscious return to form (both song and video), like something that would have fit on "This is Not a Test." Not the best, but definitely welcome, and totally makes my day regardless.

missy sounds pretty good on this but the beat isn't really doing anything for me, it gives me bad "pon de floor" vibes like 5 years after the fact

I get the exact same feeling, maybe she's just a tiny bit slow or the way she phrases the syllables makes it sound like another rhythm, not syncopated but another tempo

woah, this is good! sometimes feels a little bit empty, mix-wise - like the vocals are too loud for it just being them and the beat - but i think it works. ok sure, it's a self-conscious return to form, delivering as many rhythmic and vocal surprises as you're hoping to find in a missy record... but those are still good things, and just as enjoyable to the ears as they were a decade ago. it's a first hearing of course, but i'm inclined to say it's her best single since the under construction run?
