I think running it was taking a large amount of time for Bill & Frank so they've decided to close that chapter of of their lives as well as the Low Life parties in order to focus on other things.

Shame but the forum side of it has seen a large drop in traffic the last few years anyway.

I blame the vinyl renaissance.

A culture founded on records cut straight from cassette onto shit vinyl etc etc. - (the Trax re edit competition is testament to the beauty of low fidelity) and all anyone on here can do is witter on about how the aforementioned fidelity is 'compromised'.

I'm all for it, its well ghetto.

Any step away from styli made out of bamboo that cost $6 million dollars each and rotary mixers that Larry Levan once breathed on is alright with me.

Brings a bit of edge into things - there was a time when it was just about loud music on a big system, now all everyone wants to do is get their spectrum analyser out and worry a lot and give their klippschorn's a shiatsu massage with hibiscus oil.

Boring.

Just, fuck.

That was fantastic and the live band version of Ragysh was absolutely incredible.

Please to god let someone have ripped the audio from the set.

groovypanda, Saturday, 27 June 2015 20:26 (eight years ago) link

Amazing. Seen him twice in the past year and both times he went without the band. Man I've been unlucky.

amazing, I've been wondering how much of his tracks consist of him jamming out on a keyboard, looks like quite a lot

Heard a dope pop song that sampled svenk sas but can't remember anything else about it & can't find it... Anyone know?

• (sleepingbag), Thursday, 4 February 2016 01:56 (eight years ago) link

is it the original of svenk sas?

just sayin, Thursday, 4 February 2016 02:02 (eight years ago) link

Dunno (can you point me toward that?) but I'm guessing prolly not?

Sounded v contemporary, like it could have come out yesterday, with a female vocalist, and the hook had a prominent sample from what sounded like the 'album time' version of this song that I'm super familiar with so it jumped out at me. Can't remember any lyrics at all tho :/

• (sleepingbag), Thursday, 4 February 2016 02:11 (eight years ago) link

i just remember reading an interview where he said svenk sas was a cover... apparently its by monica tornell but i cant see anywhere its online

Yeah, feels like Lindstrøm took the Terje torch and ran with it on his new single.

You should consider yourself fortunate, because I'm cringing at it. You listen to shit like this and you realise what a lucky escape it was that he didn't get time to properly finish the album.

sounds pretty fun to me. intrigued to hear the YMO / Martin Denny cover.

"Hot off the Olsen press comes Dansbar #1, the first in a brand new series aiming to shine some much needed light on the lost history of Norway's disco underground. First in the firing line is Beranek's mad capped morality tale, 'Dra Te Hælvete', a mislaid classic much loved by the most adventurous DJs in the Scandinavian circuit."

I'm one of the people who wasn't disappointed with the album in the slightest, but I'm really struggling to care about what he does anymore. These new songs aren't the direction I wanted him to go in.

Kitchen Person, Sunday, 22 May 2016 00:45 (eight years ago) link

yeah, I don't get it either.

His remix catalogue is so great he should work on having his band perform them live. This new stuff is just terrible.

Imagine seeing his band play this live - would be epic

is that Kvernberg remix available yet? I've been refreshing Amazon, Beatport, Junodownload, etc since the Soundcloud link says it's available today, but none of them have it available for sale yet.

(also I had never heard of Ola Kvernberg prior to Terje's involvement, but I listened to Mechanical Bull [the album] and it is in fact quite good)

That Four Tet remix is a decent banger. Wouldn't be surprised if I hear it at every party I go to for the next 8 months.

Four Tet remix came up on Spotify. It's good. I don't go to parties, though.

There's really no stopping our Todd. That's a banger. As far as I can see only the remixes are available to buy, not the original...
