It really is.

Surf is a huge amount of fun, like if someone turned "Good Ass Outro" into an entire album.
― thom yorke state of mind (voodoo chili), Monday, 1 June 2015 09:55 (nine years ago) link
Any news re: a physical release?
― Hey Bob (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 6 July 2015 13:34 (eight years ago) link
Surf is kind of annoying.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 02:02 (eight years ago) link
kind of equal parts enjoyable and annoying I would say? Often simultaneously?
― Tim F, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 02:12 (eight years ago) link
i think the only part that annoys me is the KYLE verse
― some dude, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 02:43 (eight years ago) link
Yes this is true.
― The Reverend, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 03:52 (eight years ago) link
obviously a let down after acid rap, still waiting for the proper sequel. it's not all bad, sunday candy is still my track of the year.
― Van Horn Street, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 04:00 (eight years ago) link
if they didn't do enough for you to drop any expectations of this as "the follow-up to Acid Rap" then i think that's your issue
― some dude, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 05:11 (eight years ago) link
literally every piece about this album was like, 'this is not a follow up to acid rap' in the lede
kyle is def the album's worst part imo
― supreme problematics (D-40), Wednesday, 8 July 2015 06:37 (eight years ago) link
although thematically consistent?
― supreme problematics (D-40), Wednesday, 8 July 2015 06:38 (eight years ago) link
i thought it was chance rapping in character for a while
― J0rdan S., Wednesday, 8 July 2015 14:32 (eight years ago) link
it's also just kinda frustrating that Chance did a hook for the song that really feels like a very personal mission statement coming from him, and then he lets other people do the verses.
― some dude, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 14:39 (eight years ago) link
Chance always making himself adjacent to people who are ostensibly similar but not quite (Vic Mensa, Gambino, Kyle) really just serves to help me see what he gets right that other rappers in his lane get wrong.
― some dude, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 14:40 (eight years ago) link
Equal parts fun and annoying is my response too. I liked it for a couple days before filing it.
― The burrito of ennui (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Wednesday, 8 July 2015 14:45 (eight years ago) link
more like wipeout
― gr8080, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 14:47 (eight years ago) link
More frustrating than annoying? The way tracks stop just when they're getting going. Can see myself growing to love it tho.
― Jeff W, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 16:24 (eight years ago) link
this is more of a side project really right?
― 龜, Wednesday, 8 July 2015 16:25 (eight years ago) link
haha what exactly are we bargaining with/for here
― j., Wednesday, 8 July 2015 16:28 (eight years ago) link
i have come back to this a lot more than i went back to acid rap, i really like it

yeah i didn't follow all the campaign around it, it's my issue and i'm assuming it.
― Van Horn Street, Thursday, 9 July 2015 00:02 (eight years ago) link
Even before I saw the vid for Sunday Candy, this felt like what would happen if Michel Gondry made a rap album.
Don't understand why they chose to make you slog all the way through this quite hazy, insubstantial sprawl before you get to Sunday Candy, which is great and catchy and infuriating all at the same time.

damn chance's colbert performance tonight was really really fun
the new track is awesome too, really what i pictured his post-acid rap music could grow into

i mostly do not fuck w/ the social experiment album but this song is spectacular

how do i set my alarm clock so i can wake up to 'angels' every morning. pierre joy
― tpp, Saturday, 12 December 2015 00:57 (eight years ago) link
new song is pretty cool, feel like there's a greater pop song buried in there somewhere but the r&b parts over that production is pretty undeniable. might prefer the live version actually but this + "angels" and even the slowed down "sunday candy" are all very very good
if they're indicative of where his new tape is gonna be it will be a tremendous record

― Number None, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:13 (eight years ago) link
i mean...they lived in the same house at one point, i really was worried circa 2014 that Chance's next album would be a Blake collab thing
― some dude, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:39 (eight years ago) link
oh this should be cool
sometimes i have to admit i get really annoyed by his voice, when it's right i love chance but when i don't want to hear him i REALLY don't want to hear him
― marcos, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:41 (eight years ago) link
i hated that sunday candy video sooooooo much but i can't really get w/ musicals in general though
― marcos, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:43 (eight years ago) link
aw man that's a great video
― Spottie, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:52 (eight years ago) link
yea it's more my own thing w/ musicals, they are just too much for me, i feel embarassed for everyone involved including me as an audience member but i know people love them so i can easily see why people would like it
― marcos, Thursday, 5 May 2016 20:54 (eight years ago) link
new song is pretty all right imo http://pitchfork.com/news/65439-chance-the-rapper-lil-wayne-and-2-chainz-release-new-song-no-problem-listen/?mbid=social_twitter
― if young slothrop don't trust ya i'm gon' rhyme ya (slothroprhymes), Thursday, 12 May 2016 18:05 (eight years ago) link
the wayne & 2 chainz verses feel more like a flex than logical additions to the song, which otherwise sounds pretty amazing
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 12 May 2016 18:09 (eight years ago) link
2 chainz verses always logical additions imo
― dc, Thursday, 12 May 2016 18:11 (eight years ago) link
idk who produced it but it kinda sounds like a kanye beat that exploded

i already regret my earlier post. wayne sounds great... he's kinda doing a "let the beat build" thing

"half a milli in the safe another in the pillowcase / codeine got me moving slower than a caterpillar race" is some real good vintage wayne
