We are also both originally from the ancient county of Pooshire.

Have been *mildly obsessed with Cardew in the past, so fascinating to discover the ILX connection.
(*was at an ILB FAP once with fizzles, woof, xyzzz, ledge et al and got excited because there was a guy in the bar who was Cornelius Cardew's double but as no-one else knew what he looked like I had no-one to share my excitement with).

Today is actually Jowe Head's birthday. I hope he has a smashing time.

how do you actually pronounce 'jowe'? not that i am at all likely to ever have cause to speak it outside the confines of my own brain, but even in there i guess it's courteous to say it correctly. for some reason i always germanicize it as "yo-vi" but i guess it could just as easily be plain old "joe"?

Pretty sure it's "Jow" rhyming with "how", at least that's what it sounded like he said when he was introducing his band when I saw him play.

jowe now, brown cow
I assume it's meant to represent a Brummie rendering of Joe?

Jowe Head (the stage name derived from Birmingham slang for "weirdo")

Whether you like his music or not, fair play to the guy for actually writing songs that say something about society and trying to get younger people thinking about current issues. Most music these days is so bland and corporate. Popstars convey nothing in their songs in the modern era except how much money they have or how many chicks they've bedded. Music used to inspire the young to rise up and challenge the establishment. Nowadays it encourages youngers to embrace it. Sad times.

Ha! Forgot about this thread. The only interesting relative I have is my uncle, who played for Morton and St. Mirren (I'm Related To An Avant-Garde Centre Back), no 1000 word biographies of him to date.

(btw came across this thread by searching for a I Didn't Know They Were Related thread, having just discovered Toby Jones is the son of Freddie Jones).

There was a recording studio in Worcester in the 80s run by a man who coincidentally has the same real first and last name as Jowe Head, but he is not Jowe Head, where lots of pioneering grind/crust punk was recorded - Doom, Napalm Death, ENT etc.
Pretty sure I'm not related to him either.

Sad news, my uncle died last week :( Since then I've uncovered his brief career as a recording artist, though I don't think emil.y need worry, it's not exactly comparable to Cornelius Cardew...
