oh, calendar year. I was being elastic and was gonna include Zen Arcade. Their productivity was remarkable too.

did you win four consecutively or did you win four in the same year.
how can there be time for good conversation when you're pondering that kind of perpetual motion.

Drums are so perfect on "Feelin' Blue"...for that matter, they're perfect on every CCR song.
And few bands had as consistently brilliant a drum sound throughout their recorded oeuvre as Creedence did.

Talking of albums, I realized today that the first CCR albums I heard were the 1st and Pendulum! My brother was given them or borrowed them or something from a guy in his school or the guy's big brother or something. Gatefold photo in Pendulum is awesome btw.

I think it's terribleness is oversestimated given what came before. but yeah the non-Fogerty stuff is totally forgettable.

Mardi Gras wasn't so terrible that I couldn't stand to listen to it twice when I was prepping for this thread, but I doubt I'll ever feel the need to hear it again, and I certainly didn't vote for anything from it.

I assume Fogerty has always had some kind of cash flow...more than once, he went 10 years without putting any records out (or touring).

I meant it wasn't on my top 10 but should be (along with probably 5 other songs). They were too good.

"Chooglin'" was my #2. If the RAH set had been out when this poll happened, that version of "Chooglin'" would've been my #1.

If I had voted, I might have had "Chameleon" somewhere at the bottom of the ballot, even if it's not typical of their work. Without Fogerty's vocal, you might mistake it for any act in 1970 trying to get on AM radio, but it's very spirited and catchy.
― Halfway there but for you, Thursday, 23 March 2023 15:28 (one year ago) link
(xp) #7 in mine. Don't hate me, people.
― Maggot Bairn (Tom D.), Thursday, 23 March 2023 15:29 (one year ago) link
I'm thinking that Pendulum, their supposed attempt to sell themselves as a "serious album band" by late 1970 standards, goes to extremes with their most "bubblegum" material and also their most avant-garde/progressive (or whatever "Rude Awakening #2" is supposed to be). Was this a White Album-style "we can be eclectic too" statement?
