Thought I'd pop in for more information on:

Alexandria - Promise EP
http://f1.bcbits.com/img/a3311423568_10.jpg

But it doesn't seem to have attracted notice. Its the sort of glitchy R&B I enjoy.

Lurkers of the world, unite! (Sanpaku), Monday, 1 February 2016 19:14 (eight years ago) link

the dreezy is a rap song

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Monday, 1 February 2016 22:50 (eight years ago) link

it's almost entirely sung and not having known who dreezy is beforehand i failed to realize she's mainly a rapper, soz

let's not pretend mainstream r&b and rap lately feature radically different production styles anyway

dyl, Tuesday, 2 February 2016 01:20 (eight years ago) link

It's an r&b song to me.
The Anderson Paak is actually a rap album, but no one is talking about it as such.

r|t|c, Tuesday, 2 February 2016 19:15 (eight years ago) link

late as usual but really really loving the jacquees tape mentioned up thread. i'm a corny fuck so the cameo sample warmed me.

pandemic, Thursday, 4 February 2016 14:17 (eight years ago) link

Thoughts on the anderson .paak album, please?
I think I like it a lot but I can't seem to get past his kendrick voice. It's like there's a huge kendrick between me and him.

this could be way better without timbaland's voice and if he had gave more space for mila j to shine.

Several xposts...

I love that Alexandria EP. Was coming here to post it, actually! Imo it builds strength as it progresses, with Pour as the pinnacle. Glitchy R&B is the best. She's on the same label as Abra too and there's a slight correlation there in vocal dreaminess to my mind.

i love this shamelessly 90s/new jack track out of LA

https://soundcloud.com/cheetahbay/all-night-produced-by-jamma-dee

had a good time listening to the producer's soundcloud page, nice stretched out 90's r&b edits https://soundcloud.com/jamma-dee/recognize

the new mya album is really nice!

especially

and she repurposes the very underrated "ponytail" on the outro <3

Reading in the Washington Post about women throwing their bras onstage at Bryson Tiller, at his recent show near DC. I don't get it

i like this a lot. it's very bread-and-butter but this is radio-level songwriting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDNFIH-Gy2Q

J0rdan S., Tuesday, 23 February 2016 21:17 (eight years ago) link

ill admit it, I like Bryson tiller.. would've liked to go to the dc show to meet or @ least ogle bra-less women

johnny crunch, Wednesday, 24 February 2016 12:54 (eight years ago) link

i don't quite get why he's become this beacon of hate on twitter

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 24 February 2016 14:49 (eight years ago) link

his singles are fine!

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 24 February 2016 14:49 (eight years ago) link

he's only a beacon of hate in the sense that a few people have noticed how absurdly overrated he is by a lot of young R&B fans

some dude, Wednesday, 24 February 2016 16:55 (eight years ago) link

also his tweets are corny and he's a hypebeast, there's an element of territorialism to the backlash

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 24 February 2016 18:47 (eight years ago) link

he sounds so much like drake! how can you not find that annoying

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Wednesday, 24 February 2016 22:33 (eight years ago) link

am i wrong though about the territorialism

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 24 February 2016 22:59 (eight years ago) link

i can fetishize and cop my style from drake but i draw the line at an R&B singer doing that!

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 24 February 2016 22:59 (eight years ago) link

i mean, his singles are competent. and it's not a critical backlash as much as it is a self-styled tastemaker backlash, because bryson tiller threatens their very being.

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 24 February 2016 23:01 (eight years ago) link

tiller was 16 when so far gone came out, a lot of music is gonna continue to sound like drake lol

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 24 February 2016 23:05 (eight years ago) link

that said his singles have been getting exponentially worse

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 24 February 2016 23:07 (eight years ago) link

The Tweet and SWV albums are out and almost certainly worth a try.

Playlist is updated for the month; give it a spin.

The Tweet album is incredible.

human and working on getting beer (longneck), Monday, 29 February 2016 18:40 (eight years ago) link

yeah it's really, really gorgeous

cher guevara (lex pretend), Monday, 29 February 2016 18:54 (eight years ago) link

really like this https://soundcloud.com/gallant/bourbon

he kinda overwrites but in a way i find endearing

Listen to my homeboy Fantano (D-40), Thursday, 3 March 2016 18:38 (eight years ago) link

my god the tweet album is so good.

Hey (Extended Mix), Friday, 4 March 2016 03:06 (eight years ago) link

i'm really bad at intuiting what makes a proper smash hit but this new keke palmer/jeremih sounds like one to me? immense

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uaxa53A-uUs

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 4 March 2016 19:39 (eight years ago) link

and also to go back to the previous topic of conversation the tweet album really is heavenly, i feel v blessed to have both that and the king album in life in the same two-month span

cher guevara (lex pretend), Friday, 4 March 2016 19:47 (eight years ago) link

idk if it's been mentioned in another thread but yuna's new single with usher is really lovely

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 4 March 2016 21:49 (eight years ago) link

the GUITARS on the tweet album, my god

HYPERLINK TO RAP GENIUS (BradNelson), Friday, 4 March 2016 22:40 (eight years ago) link

The Keke Palmer sounds like a hit in the way Carly Rae Jepsen songs do, and coming from an R&B context it might actually be one. I'm all for it.

breastcrawl, Friday, 4 March 2016 22:56 (eight years ago) link

As for Tweet, it's amazing to me that she had that sound on Southern Hummingbird, and it sounded fresh back then and at any given point during the 14 (!) years that have passed since then, and it still sounds fantastic now.

breastcrawl, Friday, 4 March 2016 23:02 (eight years ago) link

yeah I'm loving this Tweet alb, much more than the King one
