i realise that the ilm hivemind hate nu-era garage rock and roll, but fuck it.
on a vodka fueled saturday night, there is genuinely no other band i would wish to see live.
however, that's not possible, so, i just have to strap on the 'phones and up the tinnitus groove.

ilm hivemind is wrong about most things, dude, don't sweat it.

A Golden Void live set that went up on dime today and a track that sounds like its a cover of Maggot Brain.
Some pretty lengthy guitar excursions elsewhere in the set including a Neil Young cover.
Set was recorded 3 days ago in Germany and doesn't have the tracklist in its info file.

It's Isaiah Mitchell from Earthless's side project if you haven't heard of them. I picked up the 2nd lp recently before HMV closed down that hasa far more contemporary heavy rock production on it.

I was sat on a train to Glasshoughton today, en route to a trampoline arena. I was listening to that last M0ster album "When You Cut into The Present" , which is a badass jazz-psyche-rock recording that reminds me of The Psychic Paramount's last one.

I realize posting a photo AND then adding some words to let people know what album it is might be a really time-consuming task, but for albums with no writing on the sleeve maybe you could go that extra step.

What I'm saying is, what's that album featuring the guy in the fuzzy hat holding a violin?

Homer complete the Gear Fab reissue of the Grown in the USA lp plus singles and unreleased stuff. Unfortunately the mastering is really quiet. Cos what you can hear of teh music seems pretty great, pretty blazing guitar when it cuts loose.

Magic Enclosed reissue of a 1969 hippy rock lp that verges on soul and also has some pretty great guitar all over it. Especially the 12 minute jam last track. THis has bonus singles tracks and a lotof the 2nd lp on it.

H.P. LOvecraft the Revola reissue of teh 1st 2 lps. Somebody should reissue the live set from May 68 cos it's pretty tasty

Larry Coryell Barefoot Boy. Free jazz jams featuring the guitarost on about equal footing with other band members. Had me wondering why i wasn't hearing more lead guitar throughout in places.

Another Side by Fingers INc. Late 80s house lp finally gets officially released, This again had me wondering what constituted lead instrument since most things seemed to be playing rhythm. Maybe I have my model for listening to this stuff wrong since I don't have much house stuff. This is also pretty close to an electronic soul/r'n'b which might lead me to have certain expectations about the way the music is constructed.

Just now in Five Goys Burgers And Fries: The Doors, "20th Century Fox," delightfully Kinksy, but a little more deadpan, with young Morrison not imitating Ray D. nor needing to---he really was a good vocal stylist, when not overdoing the Lizard King thing, although even that pomposity could work, as b-movie Cali cult leader presumption--- and Big Star's "Semptember Girls," with Stone Temple Pilots' "Free" (title? Goes "Freeee-eeeee" like Pearl Jam) as basic burger meat between steamed buns.

Last night on Public Radio's Beale Street Caravan: Memphis Ukulele Band, moonlighting downhome pros, members of other groups, (one guy also works at Sun) now with their own album and shows. Rec to fans Have Moicy! and related, incl. style and sensibility-wise, like R. Crumb's Cheap Suit Serenaders, though this set of covers (except for one good original) doesn't go back further than the 50s. The voice that really grabbed me was that of one young Kyndle, a girl---well, a woman, I guess---mentions having been in several bands, but she sounds like a totally poised yet never smarty-pants ingenue, especially delivering her killer version of Melanie's "Brand New Key." Haven't heard the album yet, but this is pretty good---can stream, or prob download if you've got Firefox FlashGot, for inst.:

NUTS TO YOU - DOUG CLARK & THE HOT NUTS (1961)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doug_Clark_and_the_Hot_Nuts

my friend gave me a bunch of records that had scratches on them and this is one of them and holy shit it is incredible. they are a garage/soul band from Chapel Hill doing a live show. it is incredible. a concept album about nuts. every song is about nuts. they sing Chuck Berry's "Ding-A-Ling". they sing "She's got the whole world by the balls". they sing "Gay Caballero". it is dirty south as fuck. it is garage rock and doo wop and comedy rock. highly highly recommend this album. way ahead of its time. some samples here:
