U.S. Girls! Is Kaytranada as boring as it seems it must be?

This is the first time in 5 years a Polaris poll on ILM has not materialised until September and after the winner (Kaytranada - first black artist to win?) has been announced. Odd, as the shortlist doesn't seem 'weaker' than previous.
My fault, as I used to run these, but I've been busy, so thanks for picking up my slack. Great pic, too!
Anyway, Carly.

Second half of Kaytra album is pretty good if you like his bumpy house moves (Leave Me Alone, Vivid Dreams, Lite Spots), which I do.
US Girls my choice also but not heard Black Mountain, Basia, PUP, Shauf or White Lung. Jessy Lanza on course to be one of the most over-rated LPs in EOY lists.

the Lido Pimienta album that just won this year is really good: https://lidopimienta.bandcamp.com/album/la-papessa
at times it sounds like Homogenic-era Bjork recording in the Andes

I saw her opening for Xenia Rubinos at a maybe 1/3 full Drake Hotel six or seven months back and she was great. She expressed a desire for ice cream during her set so I got her a Hagen Dasz bar from across the street. It was not unappreciated.

aww cuet. Hopefully she'll come by Montreal soon.
I don't know if it's because I just got permanent residency but I've been on a mini can-con kick lately. The new Pierre Kwenders album is so good: https://therealpierrekwenders.bandcamp.com/. Congolese rumba guitar, lyrics in three languages, dubby atmosphere, with production from one of the Shabazz Palaces people--probably my favorite new album this year so far.
