Greek occult black metal, solid songwriting and enough leftfield ideas to make it distinct and very listenable, with some deathrock/goth influence I hear in the riffs and minor-key melodies.

scott seward always bemoans bands not starting off with a few ep's before albums like how it used to be but I guess it's just not the modern way?

I think it's worthy of being considered among the albums. The Black Sabbath, Ghost, Pallbearer and Witch Mountain EPs are just a hodgepodge of leftovers and covers mainly.

I mean, I like the new Witch Mountain song, "Burn You Down" a nice intro to their new singer. The other track is a re-do of "Hare's Stare."

we broke the 30 ballot mark but thats more than 50% down on recent years so fingers crossed lots of people will still vote before the end

I'm a big doom fan, but this was the year that Sludge metal records totally kicked Doom Metal's ass composition-wise. That Goatess record grew on me, and probably should have made my top 50, but got shut out by SubRosa and Spirit Adrift just slightly.

While that's the end of Dawnbringer, I'm hoping elements will turn up in Chris Black's next solo project as Professor Black. At Alehorn of Power he played songs from all his bands - Superchrist, Dawnbringer, High Spirits and Pharaoh, with a few different players rotating on stage.
