yes, but it does get tiresome after 30 seconds

I saw him play as part of Steven Wilson's band and yes tiresome is the word.

Gotta give it more than 30 seconds

in that tony macapline/allan holdworth vein of dudes that seem kinda metal at heart but have a certian jazz fusion quality

thing with these guys is that their actual leads can be really cool and interesting but every other damn thing about the music from the tones to the tunes to the drums etc is so bad to me

thread for discussion of guitarists i have only heard of because i read guitar magazines in the late 90

yeah. it's impressive, but I'd rather listen to something slower and simpler like Jim Hall's St. Thomas instead because of tone and tunes.

Steve Vai is a musical genius and everything but the only thing of his I can actually like to listen to and be moved by is his solo on PIL's "Rise". This my way of saying "Guitar vituosi yea, guitar virtuosi keeping entirely to themselves nay."

Vai is great on DLRs Eat Em And Smile cuz Roth understands that Vai is crazy awesome but not to be taken seriously

You guys don't like him with Zappa? Flex-able was not a bad album too! Some pretty goofy and out-there stuff on that, not just twiddly shredding.

I like "Little Green Men" just fine, but it's silly, and I don't listen to silly stuff over and over again, generally.

I can't hang w much zappa post mid 70sFlexable is OK. But having him "talk" to DLR in Yankee Rose is so great
