Four decades of hindsight makes it kind of not fair but the dude's take on some fairly classic albums when they were barely out of the shrink-wrap in Rolling Stone is fascinating.
He seemingly nailed Kiss - showing himself a supporter of the band's debut during a time that legend has it critical acclaim was something the band could never muster - but his take-down of the Aerosmith classic Toys In The Attic was a complete miss.

According to Richard Meltzer, GF was one of only two or three black crits on the scene at the time who regularly reviewed "the standard white junk". I know he raved about Hotter Than Hell and Tyranny & Mutation but those reviews don't seem to be archived.

I thought I had at least a passing familiarity with everyone who wrote a number of reviews for Rolling Stone back then, but I'd never heard of Gordon Fletcher till reading this.
