I have a feeling her forthcoming album - first full-length after an EP - is gonna get some push so may as well start a thread about her.

While driving I happened to accidentally hit the button on my steering wheel which turned off my iPod and clicked to the radio which was on WXPN right as this new song from Elle King was playing:

Love her voice, love the sassy lyrics, love the production which makes a song that could have sounded retro instead seem contemporary (mostly the percussion but don't sleep on the fact that it's REALLY FUCKING LOUD which makes all the difference as such a thing usually does), and I especially love the chorus which has yet to leave my had and probably won't for some time.

I hit the YouTubes and the songs from her 2012 Fat Possum EP make me think she's a redneck Adele but she's smarter than that would imply (nothing against rednecks).

I'll probably pick up the EP but I'll definitely pick up the album when it comes out.

Hey, a thread about Elle King! She's my cousin's step-daughter (and Rob Schneider's daughter), so my fb feed has been filled up with posts about her for the past couple years. Glad to see she's getting some attention beyond that.

That pinched, cutesy, faux-Billie Holiday/Zooey Deschanel nasal headvoice that all these white girls use when they sing songs on ukuleles (or other instruments) is THE WORST THING IN MUSIC FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS. GOD. DAMN. KILL IT WITH FIRE.

I have no problems with how she sings but I have a passionate dislike for anti-vaxers so fuck her dad.
