I bought a big box of dance singles. I was bored. Mostly British. Mostly from 2001/2002. How many do you think I can get through? There are, like, 130+? I am not a fan of British dance music. For the most part. Sorry! But I believe in education! Education is the key!

listening now to:

Kings Of Tomorrow - Young Hearts (Defected - 2002)

this is like an old thread.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:29 (nine years ago) link

this isn't that great.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:29 (nine years ago) link

more like the Kings Of Yesterday...amirite?

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:29 (nine years ago) link

nobody probably remembers these guys...wonder what they're up to now...

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:30 (nine years ago) link

KOT's "Finally" was a stone cold classic. Always reminds me of a very cute guy I saw dancing to it in flipped down overalls at Sydney Mardi Gras 13 years ago. If I had a photo I'd send it to J0hn's wife as proof of the greatness of overalls.

Now playing:

Neutron Tom - Funky Shit (Vacuum Recordings - 2002)

i already like this a lot more. cuz i like funky shit. and this is great too in case a baby boomer comes in the store and starts annoying me cuz then i can turn it up and make them cry. i would listen to this twice!

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:38 (nine years ago) link

Sydney Mardi Gras memories definitely have to be a consideration when discussing forgotten club fodder...that goes without saying.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:42 (nine years ago) link

UK charity shops are full of this crap, that and jazz-funk 12"'s (not the cool / collectible ones mind).

めんどくさかった (Matt #2), Monday, 24 November 2014 20:43 (nine years ago) link

sometimes the stuff that is ugly that no one wants is worth going through though, if you're bored and/or crazy and/or work in a record store

mattresslessness, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:49 (nine years ago) link

I have never heard of any of this stuff.

Matt DC, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:49 (nine years ago) link

now playing:

The Fareevaders featuring MC D-White - The T-I Tune (Tar Records - 2002)

elaborate concept single about riding the tube at midnight and ticket inspectors. it even comes with a huge poster with an elaborate map of the tube system! very cheeky. good for a larf. DJ Pixie. Garage. Bongos.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:50 (nine years ago) link

all this stuff litters the universe. and, yeah, i don't feel like working. i bought this stuff online for nothing. the mailman didn't look happy.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:51 (nine years ago) link

really love thomas ingamells doing his thing as avis van rental

j/k

mattresslessness, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:51 (nine years ago) link

The ones so far seem awful but I'm bookmarking the thread anyway, £1 british house records from this era could yield gems (tho probably a couple years too late for uk stuff)

saer, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:55 (nine years ago) link

now playing:

Lazar - And This Is Her, Smiling (C-Rock Mixes) (Stir15 Recordings - 2001)

this is not from england. this is deep dish broken house or whatever. so far so nothing. this could be the revolt of the 90's in 2001. vaguely tribal minimal whatever house. but not the good kind. sax samples...but not the good kind.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 20:56 (nine years ago) link

Is most of this stuff mostly like clumpy hard house or breaks or trance or something? There was a lot of all of that lying around at the time.

Matt DC, Monday, 24 November 2014 21:08 (nine years ago) link

im hoping not, and that a few hidden treasures pop in and say hello

saer, Monday, 24 November 2014 21:10 (nine years ago) link

now playing:

DJ Hazard - Kidnap/Slipstream (Inflicted Records - 2002)

tedium & bass. like someone had read an article about something vaguely moody and dark and based tracks on the slight discomfort they felt while reading. into the rubbish bin!

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 21:16 (nine years ago) link

well, i did like the neutron tom single. dunno if it's a "treasure" exactly. fun though.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 21:17 (nine years ago) link

now playing:

DJ 19 - IC (19Box Recordings - 2002)

yay, Japan! the techier the better, that's my motto. i like this.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 21:29 (nine years ago) link

this is the remix...

kings of tomorrow also had a popular little classic as recently as last year with 'fall for you' - http://youtu.be/aI0gytwrKXg

dj hazard had this delightfully irritating number last year - http://youtu.be/Sn50Ls_gPVk

The Fareevaders featuring MC D-White - The T-I Tune (Tar Records - 2002)

now playing:

mhonolink - echoes pt. 1 (mhonday music - 2002)

go Sweden! tribal Swedes! man, this is monomania. crazy, man.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 21:45 (nine years ago) link

so far, japan and sweden are winning...

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 21:46 (nine years ago) link

except for that Lazar thing. which was also from sweden i think. that stunk.

scott seward, Monday, 24 November 2014 21:49 (nine years ago) link

now playing:

adam jay - ornithopter (placktown sounds - 2002)

uh oh, a brit on a swedish label! will worlds collide? i dig this. hard rockin' tech house. could go for more of this. three tracks on this too which is nice. a good sampling of the adam jay magic.
