anyway, mall walk is done. in the meantime, main guy rob miller went on to form blues lawyer and they're much lighter than mall walk, much more nervy feelies energy. very awesome stuff. east oakland, so you know it's repping for lgbtq folks. also his christian singles album (basically his "solo" material) was really good. that's what the video above is and the album is maybe my favorite thing he's done.

if you miss some good old lofi indie twee chug, definitely check it out.

MALL WALK - 'treadmill' (2014)

that first mall walk tape still hits really nicely. their confluence of classic indie + garage psych via shoegaze certainly wasn't new, however they also brought tunes with them. here they are on kexp (also lol wtf is rob's guitar!??)-

MALL WALK - 'criminal code' (live on kexp, 2015)

i never commented re:the mall walk album? it's a bit more ... uhh, difficult? lots of paranoia+classic new wave dourness. the earlier material is their best.

rob released basically a classic sounding indie-pop album called companion piece last year. it's decent, but a far cry from the spaced out new wave revival of his past projects.

... keep running the treadmill, i guess ...
