Stevie Wonder: RFD (again)

Yeah, yeah, I know at least 2 threads were created on this topic already - I just breezed through them. But let's get DIRRTY - I wanna know about his teen Motown days, his "serious artiste" days, his seemingly irredeemable fuckery, etc etc etc. (Topic inspired from snagging _Songs In the Key of Life_ from Columbia House and enjoying it more than I thought I would.)

For some reason, my mind's fixated on the image (seen once!) of Stevie & pals futzing with this super-huge synthesizer, with these huge switchboard-like panels cluttered with wires looming in the background, and Sir Wonder at the keys, doing his thang.

"Front Line" is my favourite war veteran song.

Oh it is motherfucking ALLLLLLLLLLLL about Fulfillingness First Finale. The double-shot of "Bird of Beauty" and then "Please Don't Go" is one of my favorites to end an album, and "Boogie On Reggae Woman" may be the most This Song Is About Fucking song ever recorded by someone other than Prince.

Seriously, one of my favorite albums.

Not quite sure what it really is you wanna know Popshots but, since I don't recall posting on either of the other threads you mention...

I took a punt on Music Of My Mind last year, which was the first LP where he had total creative control. It's not as great as I keep wanting it to be, but has its moments. What he achieves with synthesizers is particularly impressive. It must have sounded shocking to some people at the time, compared to what he was doing just a year or so before.

Hotter Than July is the other indispensible LP not already mentioned.

while i do really like 'songs in the key of life' and some of his other seventies stuff, it's got to be the teen-screamer - if there's a more joyous noise in existence than 'uptight' then I'd like to hear it.

(actually, there is and it's 'i wan't you back', but never mind)
