Can we talk about the brilliance/WTFness of Devo's "Doctor Detroit" video?

I have not seen the movie (which "sucks", according to the description of the video) but reading a plot summary on IMDB I don't think the song or the video have anything to do with it. Does anyone know what the hell is going on here? I'm on my 5th playthrough and all I know is it's brilliant, and this song is crazy good for late-period Devo. I encourage you all to take a look...

The movie is in fact almost unwatchable. This song is the best thing about it.

It is a self-referential video about editing footage from a movie into a video for the theme song of the movie.
