I am sure there is (should be) a whole thread/discussion about the songs on this game. But any video game that has slayer, iron maiden, anthrax, michael jackson, toto, luther vandross, animotion, nena, herbie hancock, two live crew, bryan adama, joe jackson, tesla, hall & oates, wang chung, megadeth, whodini, the pointer sisters, blondie and ozzy (among many), cant be bad. Can it?
(I heard 'reign in blood' and said something along the lines of "this is the coolest game ever." then i heard Iron Maiden. and i knew it was.)

There is nothing better than slaughtering someone and then hearing "More Than This" on your car stereo. Fucking fantastic game and grebt soundtrack!

Grand Turismo 3 had "Turbo Lover" and "Kickstart My Heart" but I may be willing to conceed.

Still nothing touches 'So where exactly in Latin are you from Fernando?' of GTA3. How the hell are you supposed to shoot someone when your laughing at that?

I am disheartened by the lack of the Clash (don't front, "Police On My Back" would've been PERFECT) and Van Halen (ditto "Atomic Punk"), and they probably could've snuck the Beastie Boys in there since this game takes place in '86 and "She's On It" fits the timeline. But still... there is something otherworldly awesome about fleeing a horde of murderous bikers while "Billie Jean" or "Atomic" is blasting through your radio.

I want to see their next sequel take place in an Oakland/San Francisco-circa-'73 setting just to hear what Isaac Hayes songs they'll pick.

Is this out now? I've been playing GTA3 pretty regularly for nearly a year and I'm still going. (Is the mission that starts in the cartel mansion the last? It feels like it might be.)

Bloody hell, that soundtrack looks fantastic, it's even got Mongo Santamaria who I've been meaning to check out since I got some cheaparse Latin compilation in the summer. "Africa" by Toto playing while mowing down a pavement full of pedestrians, Patrick Bateman would be proud.

HOLY CRAP. Missing You?!?!?!! I am in awe of these people who make these great things.

Keep in mind, we've all been awed by GTA3 for the past however long because it contains the music from the Scarface soundtrack. You can't get the Scarface soundtrack in the US anymore, which is a sad, sad thing. Thank god for the boys making GTA3 for bringing it back to us.

twelve years pass...

It was my favourite GTA ever. I've just started it on Ipad. the controls are horrible (and obviously it's got its era's graphics) but it's still very cool to be in vice city again !
still love the miami vice vibe... and obviously the songs !
although there seem to be less songs. and the missions seem easier/shorter.

but I'm not sure about the differences since it was so long ago !

I think this post sums up why Vice City remains my favourite GTA

IHeartMedia, the giant broadcaster formerly known as Clear Channel, (stevie), Wednesday, 25 March 2015 11:52 (nine years ago) link

ahah, indeed !
funny because I've played most of the following GTAs and although they obviously improved on many aspects, I never enjoyed any as much as vice city.
Has anybody tried it on Ipad yet ?
I kinda get better at driving and some automatic shooting begins to feel better too.
but damn these controls !

AlXTC from Paris, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 12:10 (nine years ago) link

Most frustrating for me was the early mission where you have to control the RC chopper on the construction site. It's hard enough with the controller, almost impossible using touch screen controls.

calstars, Wednesday, 25 March 2015 13:14 (nine years ago) link

hum. I haven't reached that mission yet. but walking around and aiming is already so hard. controlling a chopper might be a nightmare which could end up with my ipad against the wall !
so have they simplified some missions ? the tank seemed much easier on ipad than in my memory.
and there seem to be less songs on the radio also.
