that list kind of sums up the problem with billboard's attempt to chart this phenomenon, particularly with its new methodologies - a bunch of those songs started as hits but have waned since, but their higher cumulative points make them more likely to be / stay on the summer song chart. (the JT song is one exception; it was released in the middle of May)

in NYC, the only consistent tracks i'm hearing EVERYWHERE are Panda, Work, One Dance and All the Way Up. Needed Me starting to creep in

Calvin Harris and Sia have definitely taken over the english spoken summer anthem down here in Mexico. Drake one seems like a
minor hit, everyone knows it but it doesn't make people excited when it plays like the Rihanna and Sia do. The other ones are the standard fare of reggaeton/latin pop which dominate the latin airwaves every summer:

tbrr tho i don't actually have a big problem with the tune? i have never rly been particularly fond of twee vintage/modern juxta jobs (DOOP aside of course), something claustrophobic about them, but i think this one just about manages to achieve the mediated, innocuous spontaneity it's going for (which is why "v amateurish imo" is the wild dunce cap observation obv). it's probably a trickier task than it seems, and easily taken for granted
