This guy has great taste in music. I recognize most of them, but there's a small handful I can't identify due to the small size and angle of the images. For example, the ones either side of the X-Ray Spex album, left of The Real Kids, left of The Saints, left of VU & Nico, etc.

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 4 August 2016 13:42 (seven years ago) link

Left of the Saints, is Von LMO surely?

Aw naw, no' Annoni oan an' aw noo (Tom D.), Thursday, 4 August 2016 13:56 (seven years ago) link

I thought I got them all except the July album, which I was not familiar with previously, but I don't recognize the ones you note either

Left of VU is Simply Saucer - Cyborgs Revisited. Right of X Ray Spex is Suburban Lawns.

this is a salad for the BALSAMIC REVIVAL (Dan Peterson), Thursday, 4 August 2016 14:08 (seven years ago) link

Yeah that's what it says. Got that on cd about 10 years ago.
There's only about 4 or 5 of those i don't have in some form.
Not sure what the guy in cop uniform thing is.

I was thinking the bottom right hand corner was either the DBs or teh Feelies but now don't think so.

Can see the record with the psychedelic cover in the other photo is the Mops first lp.

I don't have that Hound record but can see from RYM that it's called Out Of Time.

Not sure what the Beach Boys 12" being bought is,. is that the back cover of something. An early compi or something. Stack of tracks?

I'm more used to the UK cover of Psychic Powerless, Another Man's sac

Funk Inc Chickin Lickin is the thing with the yellow writing on blue.

Not sure about thinkg with a claw next to it but think I recognise it.

V is the Vibrators.
3 mask loooking things is Torch iF the Mystics by Sun City Girls. Fall's Totale's Tales and This Nation's Saving Grace

I thought the cover being held in teh corner fo teh other photo might have been MX80 Sound but that's in colour not b+w.

Soft Boys can Of Bees and I can't see what's above that cos the arrow from the navigation tool is over it.

Can't see what the girl's holding in the other photo to well, did think Tractor though. But on 2nd thoughts probably not.

Stevolende, Thursday, 4 August 2016 14:20 (seven years ago) link

Sorry, that's what it says is referring to Von Lmo

Ah, I knew the July album looked familiar! Like the artist Coop, a lot of people discovered that July album in recent years. I'm not familiar with Von Lmo or Simply Saucer. The bottom right corner kind of looked like The Soft Pack's tribute to The Feelies - Crazy Rhythms cover but that's not it either.

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 4 August 2016 15:19 (seven years ago) link

I don't see X-Ray Spex in there. Not Germ Free Adolescents at least.

Many folks may not be familiar with this one, the one to the right of The Saints is pretty unique in that it's a newer album, though relatively obscure, a hard rock band from Philly, Hound - Out Of Time (2014) - https://wearehound.bandcamp.com/album/out-of-time. Makes me wonder if the artist has a personal connection to them, or that was simply the random choice of one album to include from the past 20 years, lol.

What's below Simply Saucer? Can't really see.
Shame the photo straight on that section is blurred.

But can See Big Star next to Simply Saucer.

There are more shots / different angles in the original full flickr set: https://www.flickr.com/photos/coop666/sets/72157670926182366 (SPOILERS though I guess)

...spoilers as there are also higher-res pics and in some of them you can even read the text. Which is good for me because it was really bugging me trying to remember what the record to the left of X Ray Spex was, and now I know, it is the Gories - House Rockin'. There are still plenty without visible text though so I hope I haven't ruined the game completely.

Pleased to see Q: Are We Not Men and E2:E4 in the other shots.

Below Simply Saucer is Scientist - The Best Dub Album in the World (1980). However it's next to The Dentists, not Les Ralizes Denudes so am I looking at the wrong pic?

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 4 August 2016 15:59 (seven years ago) link

oh yeah that Flickr has much better pics. The Vibrators! 1st Residents LP!

so the one to the left of X-Ray Spex is still a mystery?

Oh I see in one picture there are two copies of Simply Saucer, on the adjoining walls. Next to the Les Rallizes Denudes, there is nothing below but a doorway.

Since I was the one who said it was Stack of tracks in the first place why don't you?
It's a different guy, he's in a different photo in that first set right at the side of the photo beside teh girl holding the white covered record.
It's a photo in b+w of a group standing behind a table with geometric or map drawing instruments n which you can see more clearly from one of the photos from Flicker.
Reminds me of the Birthday party church photoshoot but I don't think that ever got onto an lp sleeve anyway.

Stevolende, Thursday, 4 August 2016 16:31 (seven years ago) link

The 3 Masks is the same image that was on the latest cover of tOrch of the Mystics anyway. Indestructibel beat of soweto is a photo of a man crossing a road.

Stevolende, Thursday, 4 August 2016 16:39 (seven years ago) link

Nobody's mentrioned Dictators Go Girl Crazy next to the Psychocandy taht the guy in the red beanie hat is standing under holding a b+w covered record taht looks arty in a 4AD way or something. Looks like it might be a This Mortal coil lp or something in his hand. that's the one I'm asking about.
He's standing beneath it behind the girl with the balck hair on the photo on Flickr.

Also the one with the circular image that looks like a 60s Greatest hits by somebody on the lower shelf of that unit. Not sure what that is. Does look like some kind of teen pop or rockabilly set though.

Okay, now that I fully scrolled, I saw some albums on the sticker sheet that I can't find in the shop: Aladdin Sane, A Different Kind of Tension, Never Mind the Bollocks, to name three.

Blecch Dharmagideon Time (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 4 August 2016 17:11 (seven years ago) link

Are We Not Men? We Are Devo?

Of course I am far from a superrecognizer, unlike ilxor Tom D.

Blecch Dharmagideon Time (James Redd and the Blecchs), Thursday, 4 August 2016 17:14 (seven years ago) link

Is there not a whole section that the photos don't show? I think most of them are towards the interior wall and don't remember seeing anything in the section towards the outer wall if I'm reading the structure right.
But don't think I saw anything other than that E2 E4 in a section that didn't have the sleeves filled in yet.

Stevolende, Thursday, 4 August 2016 17:22 (seven years ago) link

tg's greatest hits, piper at the gates..., gong's flying tea pot, bonzo dog's tadpoles, the kinks' face to face also on the sticker sheet... and maybe ogdens nut gone flake

no lime tangier, Thursday, 4 August 2016 17:23 (seven years ago) link

(would shop in this store)

no lime tangier, Thursday, 4 August 2016 17:24 (seven years ago) link

& the answer to my previous question on 2nd thoughts is that that is the section that has Aladdin Sane, Devo and Surf City in.
&the red beany hat guy is standing in front of holding that Death In june lp. Thanks for that, they're not a band i'm that familiar with. Think I saw them once around the time that lp came out or the year before, supporting Nick Cave in London.

Which means that i can't see where that E2E4 fits if it's still at the front of a rack. Or has the maker gone and given everything in the racks a cover that isn't showing?

Stevolende, Thursday, 4 August 2016 17:27 (seven years ago) link

oh, that's july. i thought it was parable of arable land or a zun zun egui ep or something. never had much time for that record except for the bonus track alt take of "the way" which is fabulous.

i totally listened to that hound record because it was in the store. it was good! short, punchy, didn't overstay its welcome.

anyway, i recognized more of those record covers than i can reasonably defend.

But that lp is a great English psych thing.

Yeah I revisited the Hound too, good stuff, a little "street doom" going on too. There's a follow-up album after that too.

In tribute to the lego store, I repurposed a pic for a recent piece:
