Classic. "i used to love h.e.r.", "Resurrection", the Ice Cube/Westside Connection/Mack 10 feud and the "The Light"/"6th Sense" split 12" are the best bits. I've got a copy of "Like Water For Chocolate" somewhere but I've only listened to it a couple of times. Not as good as he used to be? Probably.

The duddest bit? Canibus and Common Sense - "Makin A Name For Ourselves":

"Me and my man Common Sense/Rallying troops like Joseph Stalin... Y'all niggaz is scared/I'm your worst nightmare squared/That's double for niggaz who ain't mathematically aware."

True if your worst nightmare is 0 or 2. The track's shit too.

everyone and their mother complained about the mathematical fuck-up on 'making a name for ourselves' (including tanya on her lyric watch thing, i think)but i don't see any other shit wrong with it. the subtle minimalist spy beat works and it's nice to see canibus get some nice production for a change. that 'canibus is an animal with a mechanical mandible' line is fucking amazing.

"Like Water For Chocolate"; lifechangingly dud, in that it was the record that stopped me following whatever was the undie trend of the moment. Don't know enough about his other stuff to comment, but my *experience* of Common is dud.

The only thing of Common's I've liked is his appearance on Armand Van Helden's "Full Moon". "The Light" and "The Sixth Sense" were okay I guess, but not much more.

true if your worst nightmare is 0 or 2.

Or -2, an idea I find, at some level, strangely plausible. Minus two - WOOOH!

Nick, stop doing this to me. People will think me sad.

(-2) x (-2) = 4

However, (-2) doubled = -4...

Sorry Mark. But I think you come out of this much better than I do. My excuse is a terrible hangover.

This decent lyricist and boring rapper is not going to pave the way for an underground takeover.

this UMC album isnt THAT bad. too much of the work is done by the hooks but i quite like hearing him do old JBs impressions.

Common To Produce ’90s Rapper Comedy Titled ’93 Til Infinity’

Titled 93 Til Infinity the single camera buddy comedy will be produced by Common and Hamilton‘s very own Thomas Kail, and written by Ian Edelman.

The show will follow a prolific black rapper from the ’90s that is struggling in the present day to figure out the next chapter of his life. In the process he reconnects with his white best friend from middle school; struggles with family and other personal responsibilities; and is simply trying to get a much needed midlife reboot.

That sounds incredibly self-indulgent.
