Although the name of the song is "Houses of the Holy," the track does not appear on the earlier-released album Houses of the Holy. It was originally set to be the title track of that album but was removed when the band decided it did not fit.

Songs get written for albums, or are in live sets, and then not recorded for or left off albums.

are there any confirmed cases where the album + album title came first, and the song with that name was written afterwards?

Mark Hollis didn't record a song called 'The Colour of Spring' until his solo album in 1998.
