I was listening to Flowers In The Dirt again after it was discussed on the Paul McCartney thread and was thinking about "You Want Her Too" and this genre of kinda jokey songs where two guys argue over a woman that they are both rivals for the romantic attention of, the arguing often complimented with a solidarity arising from their shared lack of success. McCartney also did this sort of thing with Michael Jackson on "The Girl Is Mine", and Jackson and Stevie Wonder "Just Good Friends" is another one - "You Want Her Too" and "The Girl Is Mine" in particular seem to be self consciously referencing stuff like Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra doing "Well, Did You Evah!" what with all the spoken interjections and stuff.
