Slim & Howdy[edit]
In the liner notes to each of their studio albums, Brooks & Dunn wrote short stories about Slim & Howdy, fictionalized cowboy versions of themselves.[107] The duo worked with Bill Fitzhugh in late 2008 and wrote a book titled The Adventures of Slim and Howdy.[108][109]

I was pretty harcore devoted to the modern rock station beaming out of Lansing a few years back when it up and changed formats, as radio stations do, and becsme THE DUKE. devoted to 'clasdic country' which basically meant songs from the 90s and probably late 80s. I don't listen to it as much anymore but as far as it goes, it's p reliable about playing songs that I liked way more than I ever really suspected...

what are more songs that sound like "neon moon"... like country but w/ the texture of wispy 80s guitar

earl thomas conley's 1988 album the heart of it all comes to mind, but i'd like to know a better answer b/c "neon moon" is fantastic

Harvest Moon comes to mind, maybe the Highwaymen's "Highwayman", both have that ethereal reverb

"Will You Miss Me" by the Notting Hillbillies is a personal fave, wispy Knopf:

maybe check the Oh Mercy album by Dylan, guess it depends if you accept americana or if it has to be real twangy country, "Man in the Long Black Coat" is one of the standouts:

I mention it because the sense of space in that song is incredible and I was thinking maybe that was what you were going for

She's been performing it for years, but now that she recorded it Kacey Musgraves' version of "Neon Moon" is gorgeous.
