One of my fave African reissue labels. They do not seem to get all that much press - they're also not very prolific.
But I love the care and dedication they put into their stuff: the vintage commercial they filmed for their "Brand New Wayo" boogie compilation, the liner notes to "Calabar-Itu Road: Groovy Sounds From South Eastern Nigeria" being formatted like a tourist guide. Both of those releases are also good examples of how the label tries to go off the beaten path - "Brand New Wayo" came out when Nigerian Disco/Boogie wasn't quite as popular as it is now, and I have to say that as a pure listening experience it runs rings around the recent Soundway comp featuring similar music.
I guess it's also worth noting that the guy behind the label is of Nigerian background - I think it really shows in the liner notes, there's a stronger sense of personal connection.
They came out with a collection of Nigerian C&W for Record Store Day which they're going to turn into a CD. Sounds super interesting.
