I saw Australian Pink Floyd last night. And let me tell you it was the most moving, thrilling, heart-wrenching gig for quite some time. Futuristic, epic, prog elegance still holds sway. Incredible that a cover band knocks spots of all current music (with the honourable exceptions of the tip-top toploader, the musically rich richard ashcroft, and the badly-needed badly drawn boy). It is testament to the undoubted greatness of the Floyd (with the obvious exception of the tedious Syd Barret albums: childish whimsy? No thanks!) that someone covering their songs sounds fresher and greater than the chasing pack.
If the best the current crop can come up with is "electro-clash" and "hip-hop", then there is only one way for the future...and that is...AUSTRALIAN PINK FLOYD!
