I bought Informis Infinitas Inhumanitas. I like it all right, especially "Perversion Of Hate" and "Portal". Anyone else into this?

Yeah me actually. Bit fast innit? I think this would make a great alternative soundtrack to Daffy Duck/Roadrunner cartoons. What I would like to know: has anyone seen them reproduce this stuff live?

Yea...its a solid album. A bit underrated by the critics IMO. I last saw them in December of last year in Springfield, Massachusetts, and they more than capably pulled their tunes off. Watching the bassist play was worth the $15 alone.

Their first album, however, is pretty uninspired. You're better off buying a copy of their demo if you ever see them live.

What does the drummer use live?

What other Relapse stuff are you guys into? I was listening to a great Mastodon album the other night.

I did think that maybe some of the Origin might be better if they did more of the time changes and stops and starts. The relentless double-bass hammering could maybe stand to be broken up a bit. It's still quite good though. I like how the vocals in different ranges are used.

(BTW it's good to see you again Omar. Were you away for a while or did I just miss the threads where you posted?)

Very selective posting policy (basically only dance related threads but I coulnd't resist this one ;). Gotta agree with your suggestion of more stops & starts. Although you feel sort of 'emptied' after listening to the album.

solid record

i like tech-death but i'm never sure i know what the stakes are, like, what would count as a really impressive record. they seem to vary between hyper-mechanical virtuosity and hyper-brutal bludgeoning, so that i can't find a really obvious sweet spot between those. (and i guess virtuosity in itself is not impressive, without a sense of something else.)
