been seeking this out and just got it in Chicago - brilliant. The girl behind the counter was all "oh, i'm so glad you're buying this, it's amazing" and then alluded to a secret about the record, then wouldn't tell me. Is it a superstar moonlighting (a la Marvin Pontiac)? Is Terry a band or a person? Who's involved? Are they / is he from Chicago? If it's related to Jim Collins, how? Your Null Fame, I'm looking in yr direction buddy...

i'm almost thinking it has to be someone 'famous' (or at least more famous), it just drives me insane - it sounds like something i've heard before but i can't quite place it. i've gone over and over it in my head to no avail.

i know terry's supposed to be related to jim collins somehow - different vocalist at least, i'm 95% sure, but maybe sharing some musicians?

man, i don't know, but it's been driving me nuts.

NO-ONE seems to know, i've been hassling folks out ... everyone insists on the obvious links to the jim collins record (i missed that one, dammit), can't say myself, but ... first person to find out wins my undying love.

but, man, what a fucking great record.

totally. i got a stack of reviews to write but i can't seem to find a good enough reason to take this off the turntable. one of 2003s best, for sure.

one year passes...
The story I heard is that's it's a couple of big deal psych collectors behind both the Collins and Terry LP's. Don't know exactly which ones are playing on it (Denski?,Major?). Regardless their both fine albums.

nine years pass...

Listening to Gary Keller "Open Air Ceremony" right now and I like it a lot more than the Arian Sample record. Mellow and a little down but not overdone. I dunno, just right.
There is a discogs page for this artist.

tired of trying to keep up with this stuff. Not saying it isn't ALL on my Dicogs wantlist or anything, but 'mysteries' frankly exhaust me nowadays, even well-stoked ones like this one

I don't mind mysteries, but I do hate how hard it is to get these records. Plus all of the post-box stuff seemed to be declining in quality...

I only have the Jim Collins on vinyl. Got fed up being outbid on ebay years ago and gave up chasing it

ten months pass...

There is primarily one guy behind all these records. It's possible to find out who he is, but it won't do any good. I mean, it hasn't made finding the records any easier.

Personally I don't think there's been a decline in quality in these records, I get the impression they sound the way he wants them to, I mean, they're all a little different from each other. The one thing I have noticed is that the earlier recordings (up to and including the 3 LP box) seem to be more 'mystical' in theme, and the newer ones seem to be more concerned with normal day-to-day life type events.

The 10 x 7" box is all solo voice & piano/ guitar recordings, plus a few tracks of ambient noise stuff that kind of reminds me of late period Coil.
