Basement Jaxx live

Well, I saw them live last night here in Seattle. This is easily the most pop-act oriented live show I've ever seen, and it was a toychest of fun. The entire audience shouted out the entire "Romeo" lyrics, overpowering one of the guest singers who paced the stage. They pretty much stuck to the hits, though they snuck in some oddities like "My Name Iz Start" and "Fly Life" and some great unreleased stuff.

The whole thing was like the ending of "Can't Stop The Music".

Anyone else see them? If so, what did you think? C/D?

dud. saw 'em in central park, and was v. disappointed by it. the jaxx stood in back w/one turntable and a board and acted like they weren't playing a dat. it was unconvincing. the visual stimuli of the dancers/singers/etc. was cool, but not enough.

by the way, i'm listening to a copy of an hourlong dj performance they did (for radio, apparently) and while it's not mind-bending it's quite nice. i really do wish they'd stick to dj'ing. they're terrific at it.

Saw them twice when they were touring off the back of Remedy and though their setlist barely changed it was fantastic both times. Loved the live performances and colourful dancers, the tweaked performances, the bootlegs, the sheer immensity of the music... "Jump & Shout" particularly was truly monolithic.

saw at the dj at the dogstar once.. classic, none of the live show stuff just some decks a singer and a bongo player, and lots of dancing.
was tempted to go and see them at the brixton academy, but the sound and atmosphere there are terrible... (and the beers warm) even if it is the jaxx home town..

Basement Jaxx tour: Go for Ugly Duckling, maybe stick around for the Jaxx.

Saw them once, just pre-Remedy. They didn't do a liveset (praise the gods) but more of a Dj-set with the singers doing vocals over the dubs. Was pretty good too, not out of this world or anything, but a nice night out.

I just saw them this past weekend in Vancouver. They were amazing - the visuals, the costumes, the dancing. Personal highlight of mine was Jus 1 Kiss... However, I do wish they would play longer than an hour and a half.

My friend and I spoke to the woman who does the vocals on Red Alert and Romeo after the show and she was completely nice and down to Earth! When we asked if they ever played shows beyond an hour and a half, she actually laughed at the idea!

Anyways, definetly check them out if you get a chance.

At Glastonbury last year the Jaxx turned up, parked the tour bus next to the stage, and their troupe of Rio-Carnaval style dancing girls hopped out on to the roof and waved at the queue of men peeing on the fence only ten feet away. I laughed anyway. Good live too.

Oh my gosh. Just saw Jaxx live in NYC last night and it was totally astonishing. Full band, lots of singers, showmanship galore, a nearly perfect setlist. (I would have loved to have seen them do "Cish Cash," but I probably would have just died from that, so maybe it's for the best.)

They were great at the Los Angeles Detour festival!

they were great at glastonbury 2005 but i'd waited so long to catch them live and missed them at so many festivals before that it was sort of anticlimax.

i really fancy the stadium tour though just because i'm so glad they made it so big after so long at it. you'd never have guessed it would you in, say, the ROOTY era? i mean a *stadium* dance band as big as any there's been..hats off all round boys.
