Great moments in PR

From a genuine press release for some new Swedish singer with a single on the Spider-Man soundtrack. This is so exquisitely wrong in every respect that it could be a Private Eye send-up. It gets better each time I read it.

With her 'no bullshit' attitude, Ana is a breath of fresh air in the Music
Industry: She likes honest, hand-made music. "No computer in the world can
really compete with proper instruments". With her stunning looks, Ana could
easily have been moulded into a respectable conveyor-belt pop singer, but:
"Light R&B," says strong-willed Ana shaking her blond hair, "is not my
scene!"

'no bullshit'

hmmm (hmmm), Thursday, 20 May 2004 10:01 (nineteen years ago) link

What is "hand-made music"? I'm picturing hurdy-gurdys.

I like how 'no bullshit' is in quote marks

Well done her for not being afraid to speak her mind and stand out in the crowd. I wish her every success for the future and look forward to hearing her material.

I like how "Music Industry" is capped for no reason at all.

i am picturing a girl who used to busk on the streets, covering j lo songs... 'ironically'.

jesus nathalie (nathalie), Thursday, 20 May 2004 11:59 (nineteen years ago) link

Surely that should be "Lite R&B"?

It's about time we had an artist with such strong values and a positive message. Bravo Ana.

Surely that should be "Lite R&B"?

Surely "Lyte"?

Too-shay, Ben.

I like the idea that she'd be a 'respectable conveyor-belt pop singer'.

eight years pass...

Picture a home-body with an ever-present wanderlust, an introvert with a passion for performing, a creative free-spirit with enough discipline to rework her dream year after year, calloused little hands and a big pile of curly hairand you've got Beth Wood, modern-day troubadour.

Picture a tumbleweed blowing across the plains of west Texas, and another musician-songwriter is born!

Fans say that Branch's sound combines the rock-blues vocal stylings of John Mayer with the acoustic musings of Jack Johnson and Jason Mraz, all mashed up together into great music that is all his own.

Allie X shared more new music yesterday, premiering a Xample of "Good" on Gorilla vs. Bear. Check out a preview of the song alongside one of Allie X's signature spinning gifs HERE.
