Chrisma/Krisma? Anyone know them?

A few years ago, I found Chrisma's Chinese Restaurant for a fiver. Now I see that Hibernation is going for twenty times that on GEMM. There are some great websites with nice video and audio samples. I'm a fan, what with their Vangelis (through his brother also) connection and the matching suits (on CR at least). An Italian duo who could well be the model for Adult. in some ways, but with a sense of humour, Euro-flare, a dashing pop sensibility, and a dada sense of humour. And a bit more eclectic, too. So not Adult. at all, really. Anybody else familiar with them?

Chrisma were a small sensation here in Italy, in the late '70's/ early 80's. One of the few local bands that was able to find a personal approach to new wave - witty, ironic and musically interesting.
_Hibernation_is good too - their following albums were tame in comparison, but still better than most of their Italian counterparts.
Singer Maurizio Arcieri made the headlines when he cut his finger during a performance - body art or freak accident? Nobody will ever know.

i got "hibernation" for 6 bucks a few months back - it's pretty solid. to me their stuff sounds like the logical pop extension of la dusseldorf and late neu! "gott gott elektron" = amazing.

'chinese restaurant' has been on my must find list for a few months now. i heard it at a friends' house when i was a little loose and it blew my mind. i need to find out if it really was that good or if it was the er, looseness.

General: http://www.krismatv.net/chinese_restaurant/ (from here you can get some nice video clips)

Some of their earlier stuff (mid-70s) is quite prescient, and with a hint of proto-Italo disco. I like the looseness. "Black Silk Stockings" is very nice, from Chinese Restaurant.

Any other recommendations for sound-a-likes? I'm in Berlin, so it might be a tad bit easier to find this stuff here (maybe - I found CR in Montreal when I lived there).

Second "Black Silk Stockings" as a pick to click. Haven't heard anything but Chinese Restaurant, though.

Reissued at last by Universal Italy.

Some hilarious tv performances on Youtube:

Black Silk Stocking is still impressive, though.

These reissues rule. Am I the only one who's diggin' these? Sounds like a mutant hybrid of Slapp Happy, Neu!, and adult.

They're cool. Produced by Vangelis' bro, Niko, as well! (at least the stuff recorded at Nemo studios)
