Ruth White -- Flowers of Evil

One of my favorite albums of electronic music is currently being offered as <http://www.basichip.com/">Basichip.com's album of the week: Ruth White's Flowers of Evil.

She has two further albums, '7 Trumps From The Tarot Cards' and 'Short Circuits'. Also good, but this is the classic.

Definitely not for all tastes: moog-treated whispered readings of Baudelaire over dark drones and chamber melodies, but I've got a huge shady place in my heart for this record, and information on her is nearly impossible to come by. If anyone is knowing the things, post them along here.

hot damn. i'm going to have to find a copy of this, it's like 1960s aghast.

well perhaps some future random googler can post their ruth white scoops here. any information would be welcome.

I found a mid-70's children's record with 'electronic music by ruth white' but I'm not sure if it's the same person. if it is, she calmed herself down quite a bit.

Listened to '7 Tarots' again last night, much more chaotic than 'Flowers', sounds more like she was multitracking improvisations & textures but it reaches critical mass more than a few times.

two years pass...

So far today I've listened to this and Skies of America and they're both suiting my mood so perfectly that I might just put them on an endless loop for the next 4-8 years or until my mind melts.
