Have we talked about the new Devendra Banhart record yet?

If we have, I'm sure someone will link me to the thread. But whaddyall think?

I'm wondering if I'd like it more if heard this one first, but it's definitely not as good as Rejoicing in the Hands. There are three terrific songs on this new one, but a lot of it is - dare I say - Dullsville. More of the same. He needs to show another side - like that awesome Abra project! When's he gonna put out a record of THAT stuff?

Anyway, it's still good - just not as all-the-way-through impressive as the last...

A new one already? Jeez, I barely heard "RitH" for the first time this week! (It's good too.)

Abra rocks! But then I'm a big fan of the cabaret style.

or maybe i'm just a sucker for a skinny-ass white boy in a dress doing that "wade in the water" style shit.

David Sedaris does a better Billie Holiday though.

Especially his rendition of the Oscar-Meyer theme song.

OMG, I'm so totally gay!

Devendra Barnhart sounds like a coked up Billie Holiday - at first that annoyed me, but now I kind of like it.

In an interview in the wire he was goin on about "dude, everyone like holes themselves up in this unnatural studio thing without any external noises, you should be able to hear thre trees and wind and shit on record.."

I deeply resent liking records created by a fuckin hippy.

twelve years pass...

New album is very sparse but there are a couple of songs in there which I'm loving.
