53. Madonna 'Holiday'

i can see how "holiday" could make you happy as a listener. it makes me happy. but the first word of the song -- "if" -- gives away the fact that the singer may not be coming from a place of happiness herself. i think this song is more about wanting to be happy, or trying to be happy, rather than actually being happy. for whatever that's worth.

much of their work yes, but not that one

factcheckingcuz - it's not just about the lyrics tho is it, it's such a groovy feelgood production. anyway 'if' suggests hope and the whole thing at least alludes to happiness, so that'll do for me. i was actually going to pick 'Borderline' for the same reason.

Seconded: Remember "Ghostbusters II"? The only thing that stopped Vigo the Carpathian was the sheer joyousness of "Higher and Higher". I remember this well, because this was the highwatermark of us Carpathians' bid for world domination. Damn you, Venkman.
