Cell phones are gay

That One Guy (That One Guy), Wednesday, 27 June 2001 02:56 (twenty-two years ago) link

I still have one of those old-ass phones that can only play beepy tones and not those cool polyphonic jobbies. That said, I, like a huge dork, programmed the following into my phone:

- the theme from the tv show 'Angel'
- 'Love My Way'
- 'Pick Up The Pieces'
- 'Lowdown'

I had this program where you could run a MIDI through and tell it which phone you used, and it would tell you have to enter it into the phone, but it stopped working before I could find a good MIDI of Cliff Nobles and Company's 'The Horse.' That is my dream ringtone (which is, I realize, a really dorktastic phrase).

it's a phone. it goes "ring ring".

in the past, however, it has played "being boiled", "smoke on the water" and the commodore 64 loading music ocean software used circa 1985. (that was a herculean feat, getting that on to a nokia 7650.)

sovietpanda (sovietpanda), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 17:57 (eighteen years ago) link

I have a simple old telephone ring that sounds like it's from a 50s-era phone. The only ringtones I'd ever consider are the "ping" from the beginning of Pink Floyd's "Echoes" and ITC's 1970s-era theme music from their intro screens (see the beginning of either U.F.O. or Space 1999 for an example)

I was in a coffee bar once and someone had the "America! Fuck Yeah!" soundbite from Team America World Police

I created an MP3 of the first thirty seconds of so of this song:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBoq6BOPaS0

I created this to use as the ringtone to a phone I had several years back. The first phone I used it on was my Hitachi G1000 which I believe you could kill someone with if you hit them just right on the head, it was that huge:

http://i.ytimg.com/vi/HHyccq3RyAU/0.jpg

Despite all these years and a whole bunch of phones, I, being a creature of habit, always load up the same MP3 as my only ringtone and lock it in.

I am boring. But at least I always know when my own phone is ringing.

i have no ringtone and i don't have my phone on vibrate.

if I'm at home or the office i have my phone out where i can see it, so it lights up when i get a message or call. if I'm walking around i have headphones in and calls and texts interrupt whatever I'm listening to.
