I really hate this song. It always reminds me about how they played it 20 times in The Last American Virgin.

Here it is if you never heard it (I hardly doubt that)

the Last American Virgin is such a weird movie.

I love this song, but not as much as the other Last American Virgin staple "I Know What Boys Like".

I can't listen to "I Will Follow" anymore because of TLAV

Everytime I hear it I think of the abortion scene.

totally unbelievably CLASSIC, one of those satire-whose-audience-misses-the-point moments of cultural greatness: "the hot, hot, super-special real sex girls"

They wer Spark's backing band circa Angst in Your Pants, so they get Classic for that alone.

i mainly remember this song from the party scene in revenge of the nerds

I think it would be better if The Birthday Party covered it.

The Birthday Party could cover (and improve) almost anything.

SoHoLa (SoHoLa), Tuesday, 19 July 2005 04:25 (eighteen years ago) link

but it'd be better if the fall covered it.

two months pass...
It was also on the "Revenge of the Nerds" soundtrack. So: Classic!!!

nine years pass...

New Wave re-issue label Futurismo put out the "Songs of the Spires" LP. I bought it on a whim having loved their live Devo thing.
It's great! "Sex Girls" is a bit of a novelty track even on the album - the rest of the songs are darker and much more melodically rich.
Really underappreciated album it seems.

"SEX! SEX! SEX! SEX!"

I always thought the song was "Are You Ready for the Sex, Girls?" With the comma. As in, the singer is asking a group of girls if they're ready for the sex.

One of the best songs ever, obvs.

There's a palpable menace to the sex girls.

They've got time on their hands, they've got skin like seals
Bikinis gleaming in the morning light
You might lose your life
There's that knock on your door and they're there in your house
If you can't talk love you better get out
There's that knock on your door they have come back again
If you can't talk love you'd better pretend
There's that knock on your door, now you just gotta learn
Don't whine about love, every boy gets a turn
No one is ready for the sex girls!

You and your damn elves, I'm sick of it! (Sanpaku), Friday, 27 March 2015 16:30 (nine years ago) link

The video is also brilliant and disturbing.
