One of the first new jack swing singles. Still the best?

does this have anything to do with "Another Sunday Night"?

If you don't get paid, then it's just another Sunday night.

Not as good as the Takin Your Business early '90s parody "Just Got Laid" on Warlock Records -- possibly of the most '60s frat-garage-rock-sounding hip-hop record ever made.

Also possibly not as good as "Teddy's Jam" by Guy, I'm not sure.

T/S "Just Got Paid" vs "Teddy's Jam" vs "I Like"

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 23 September 2005 16:32 (eighteen years ago) link

oops, Idlers apparently not Warlock per se, oh well

Either way, the Swingin Medallions would be totally impressed.

xp

Weren't Idlers & Warlock distributed by the same company? My old copy of "I'll House You" was on Idlers, but the sleeve was a generic 12" sleeve with the Warlock logo.

I thought Johnny Gill did "Just Got Paid." Maybe I'm just being a tard there. Either way, "Teddy's Jam" wins.

If someone's got an mp3 they wanna share with me of Kemp's song, I'd be most appreciative.

Also: N'Sync did a not-bad version on No Strings Attached.

Anyone who says "Dud" should get kicked in the crotch. ("Teddy's Jam" does pwn it, though.)

Classic.

"I Like" was my fave of the three (especially the club mix, which had more, well, swing), but they're all excellent. See also: "Why You Gettin' Funky On Me?" by Today.

Mine too. That's why I got confused!

I would also like to put in a word here for "Every Little Step" by Bobby Brown and "Nite and Day" by Al B. Sure.

But not Keith Sweat. He totally sucked.

I Want Her by Keith Sweat soundtracked many childhood crushes for me. Also classic.

"Nite and Day" is GREAT, and pwns all over anything Keith Sweat ever did.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Friday, 23 September 2005 17:33 (eighteen years ago) link

yeah, "Nite and Day" is amazing.
