The more i listen to songs from Phyliss Hyman's " I refuse to be lonely", the more i believe that this was a suicide note, a songs on there actually chronicle her wrapping up loose ends of her life so she could quote "Enter heaven with god".

I was only 6 when Phyliss Hyman died the day she was to appear on the Apolo, at 6 i knew what good music was. Living in Confusion and Refuse to be lonley, has to be 2 of the saddest, somber songs i have ever heard in my life. If you get a chance to watch BETJazz Channel they play older video's only, and in the Video there is such saddness in her eyes, She was one of the greatest singers, if she were still here i believe that her mere presence would have changed the music game and we would have more singers of her calaber. A sad loss even years later. My greatest fear is that people have forgotten about her.

the first time i heard phyliss i was 11 years old. i was listening to the quiet storm an "aint you had enough love "came on from that moment i was hooked.it made me go back in my parents records an listen not just hear her music.there is no one on this earth that can make you feel so much emotion. i was listeninig to "no one can love you more" last night and the phrasing is incredible.i am now twenty nine and i feel the same way i felt the first time i heard her.bettcha by golly wow will always stand the test of time not prince's version or stlistics but phyliss's version

Phyliss was a very beautiful woman who could truly sing. I will never forget her talent and her music will always be in my collection. Like most of you, I fell in love with her music the first time I heard one of her songs, I believe it was "Starship" with Norman Connors, and I have been hooked ever since.

And it's better than "Move Closer"

why was she so unhappy? I've never investigated further about that. "You Know How To Love Me" is so positive, upfull.

also, Donny Hathaway - what could have driven him to suicide? certainly his voice is one of the most emotive ever - perhaps there's deep pain. "The Closer I Get To You" especially, seems like there's something extra there.

I don't want to lose you" it seems she was so sad, I mean her vocal range and tone is phenomenal, she was and is truly a gifted singer, one who can take pain of the paper and dig deep within her soul and really make u feel it. Living in confusion and Living alone etc. the list goes on, these new singers need to take note, a face and a body does not replace true talent. love u all
