Don't Missing Persons deserve their own thread?

Has anyone heard the synapse-frying non-album tracks on one side of this? "I Like Boys" and "Mental Hopscotch". How very happy it makes me to hear these tracks which are so wonderful and come from a band I last listened to a long, long time ago.

the lyrics of "i like boys" are pretty asinine, no? even by pop-song standards.

I ....like.... boys!
In all the world there's just one thing for this little girl, ooh I like boys
Some are my lovers, some are my friends, I don't try to pretend,
ooh I like boys
Whatever I do, wherever I go, if you're the one I'll let you know,
I... like ...boys!

People like this, people like that, but I like boys
It's easy for me, you'd better believe, I like boys
It's a matter of taste, I'm stating my case, I like boys
And boys like me too, ooh, I like boys

I.....like....boys!
I don't care where they're from, or what they've done, ooh I like boys
Lay no shame, rich or not, just as long as they're hot, ooh I like boys
Give me a boy, what should I do, don't you wish it could be you?
I.....like....boys!

People like this, people like that, but I like boys
It's easy for me, you'd better believe, I like boys
It's a matter of taste, I'm stating my case, I like boys
And boys like me too, ooh, I like boys

I like boys...Boys! B-O-Y-S! I like boys

That's not asinine, that's awesome!

I don't care about the LYRICS, for fuck's sake, I'm talking about MUSIC, here. As in LISTEN.

Buddy Jones:
Where ya from?

Mary:
Ah, the bus...

Buddy Jones:
Which one?

Mary:
You know...the last tour... You know...Leather

...Dale Bozzio on Zappa's Joe's Garage.

Missing Persons' output was highly inconsistent. The only tracks that are keepers to me are "Destination Unknown" and "Words".

Someone stuck up for "Give"! That makes me happy. I preferred the second album, Rhyme & Reason. My favourite was "If Only For The Moment".

I'm having a major Teen Witch revelation here. I had no idea that was a real song.

Anyway, "Words," "Destination Unknown," "Walking in LA" = great. Don't know the rest.

I thought this thread was going to be about, like, musicians that had gone missing, or something. How wrong I was.

A friend found the 7" for I Like Boys on the street, and when we first played it, we accidentally left the player on 33. It made the song much better. But apart from that, it's pretty insipid standard pop fare.

one year passes...

I've been re-experiencing the Rhyme & Reason lately, bit by bit. First I had to put my fave song on it on my compilation of stuff to play at the gym "If Only For The Moment", my fave Missing Persons song of all time.

Then I heard this amazing thing called "Action Reaction" that is a bonus track on the CD I never knew about. It sounds like it came from very early days.

And also I love "Surrender Your Heart" and my elbow hurts right now to try to find a proper classic or dud thread or whatever. If you find one, link, thanks.

I think it's amazing how well most of the Rhyme & Reason album holds up today.

three weeks pass...

I've just flipped over their first two albums the last month or so and this live thing I found too called "Late Nights/Early Days".

I dreamed I might be lucky enough to find a few early live videos of them on You Tube and low and behold, my dreams came true recently:

"Windows":

"Mental Hopscotch"

Okay so that last one isn't live. I love this band, I'm sorry.

I can't believe how small this thread is. Growing up in L.A these guys seemed to be ubiquitous. Was it just a local thing, then?

Where would Gwen Stefani be today without Dale Bozzio as a role model?

"Mental Hopscotch" was quite good, if memory serves.

First Michael Vick, now Dale Bozzio? I like "Destination Unknown" as much as the next guy, but seriously, fuck that bitch.

I suppose there's a chance that what the lawyer says is true - she hired someone to take care of the animals and the person never showed up. But for her to not follow up is hugely irresponsible. Very sad.

why does no one ever talk about Missing Persons? Spring Session M is way up there with the best of Blondie and the Pretenders imo. Don't know anything else besides 'Mental Hopscotch.' But man, side one of Spring Session M is hit after hit: Noticeable One, Windows, Ain't None of Your Business, Destination Unknown, Walking in LA, U.S. Drag...........ROCKIN!! why does this band get no credit/plaudits from people that are eager to namedrop Blondie?

There's a new Missing Persons album out now, because why not. Called Dreaming. It's only Dale from the original group.
