Right now I vote for 'Reth's, for which I've always had a soft spot. Produced by Keith Richards, with guitar by Ronnie, and a rare Aretha lead on piano, it evokes the appropriate swampy, barrelhouse air. The video is splendidly crapulous.

The Stones. Even if the rest of the record wasn't collossal, I'd love it just for the guitar noodling (Keith, I guess) at the end.

On the covers tip, Alex Chilton (post Box Tops, pre Big Star) recorded an amazing version in 1970 that wasn't officially released for over two decades.

Thelma Houston's version on Sunshower does something interesting with it. But c'mon, man -- the Stownes.

ten years pass...

what's going on on the snare hits on 2 and 4, i can't tell if someone is doubling them on a guitar or the drum is detuned or it's just a production flourish or what
